Recommended graphics cards based on my specs

    I would prefer Nvidia.

I have an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz, whatever those numbers mean. I'm not very knowledgeable in this.

What card can I get that won't be bottle necked by that CPU and my 6 GB of RAM?

My budget is probably up to ~$150, preferably much less, around 100.

My current graphics card is an AMD 7470, if that matters.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I'm in 'Muricaland, so it's in USD.

Radeon HD 7750/7770/7790 (depending on how much you're willing to spend, higher number = better in this scenario) perhaps? I'm not too savvy with the lower end cards these days.

Some 7850 ($130 ish). Or a GTX 650 Ti Boost ($150 ish) if you like nVidia better.

Seconded. Your CPU is a bit old, but due to Core 2's awesomeness it's still comfortably midrange. The 7850 is a comfortably midrange graphics card. Enjoy!

Make sure that your PSU (that's the thing the plug goes into) is up to scratch though. You do need atleast one "Six pin power connector" (All PSUs from a certain wattage and up should have atleast one) - check out the website, make sure those parts are actually in your PC before you continue.
Or just post the specs here and we'll help you out :).
