Now that I think of it. A +1 Morrise chavis and the Time Ranger on GTA Vice city's VCPR. Oh the thoughts of running people over listening to people stand in front of fans naked and a unick masturbating to time travel..... Good times.

The Divinity games have great soundtracks. The original C&C's awesome Frank Klepacki music. And Bloodlines. ;)

Obvious recent choices would be VVVVVV and Frozen Synapse. I'd also add Max Payne 2 and Morrowind.

Out of the PC territory, I really like Castlevania games' soundtracks. A lot of the same (great) tracks, in different rendition, appear throughout the games, but there are plenty of memorable originals as well. My favourite of them is Crystal Teardrops, courtesy of Symphony of the Night.

Obligatory Machinarium. And Atom Zombie Smasher. Also, Azure Dreams for PS1. And Lost Odyssey for 360. While I'm at it, the majority of NES and SNES games as well -- Metroid, Mega Man, Bubble Bobble, etc.

    Brütal Legend probably doesn't count.

I love Frozen Synapse and SpaceChem's soundtrack so much that they're on my Grooveshark list. And some of the haunting themes for Deionarrah and Anah from Planescape Torment remain some of the best things to come from computer game music ever.

    Apart from this, of course:

I'm a huge Chris Hülsbeck fan ever since Gianna Sisters.

The Longest Journey gets my vote. I'm listening to the soundtrack as I type this.

I'm also quite partial to ones composed by Dynamedion so you've got Anno 1404, Drakensang + The River of Time, Sacred 2 et al.

Someone mentioned the Divinity games above, and I'll also say they're good. Kirill Pokrovsky is a pretty damned good composer, and I hope Larian keep hiring him.

Been listening to the Bastion and Frozen Synapse soundtracks quite a bit lately too. Aside from those, I'd definitely put Arcanum on the list and, although I've never played the game, Fantasy General.

The soundtrack that best fits its game is, without a doubt, DEFCON's.

Morrowind. Colorfully evokes sense of discovery & adventure as well as the quieter, idyllic moments of town life.

Not to forget the amazing System Shock 2 soundtrack by Mr. Eric Brosius, husband of Teri Brosius, the eerie Shodan and Viktoria voice actress (and level designer and...)!

Some bits of Deus Ex were pretty bitching - Main Theme, UNATCO HQ. That club music, though... *shudder*

Red Alert a pretty killer soundtrack. Hell March? Sign me up. In fact, the majority of Klepacki's work for the Command & Conquer series is excellent.

Shatter has a great soundtrack; streamable for free, or $3 to buy it.
