Second game of Civ V I'm suffering little to no harassing from AIs even though I've picked the smallest map size and I had borders pretty quickly this time - I've been less of a noob with diplomacy and have a fair amount of military units 90% of them courtesy of friendly militaristic city-states.
Not that I've figured how to make the trades work: if they ask me for a luxury resource, they offer a pittance in return. If I ask, they want gold, luxury resources, strategic resources and pretty much everything else on the table.
The devs should have included sexual favors as well - they're trying to screw you anyway, so let's not beat around the bush right?

Just started on Serious Sam 3 and I'm already disappointed in myself twice. The first is that there's an achievement for playing it 'Old School'; "Complete the game without manually reloading, aiming or sprinting." "Just test fire the pistol. Not bad. *Reloads* "...dammit." The second is that I've been trying to find the secrets. I completed the first level with 11/17 found, which I suppose wasn't too bad. Second level with just over half too, but I looked to see what I missed; a giant short-cut, a double-barrelled shotgun and the laser-gun. Grrr.
Otherwise I'm having fun with it. It looks amazing - I particularly like how explosions rock the trees and grass - although I can understand the dislike of the second level. You go from open spaces and already trying to frantically take down enemies, including some last minute kleer, to a really tight environment. Not even like F/SE where the same would happen, but there was usually something else to make up for it like vertical design. Still, it's nice to be playing an FPS where you're shooting very alien things. Even whilst playing Halo, I had this sense of already fighting these enemies before...mostly because I have, several times.
I was going to play a modded version though with some things that changed some of the weapon behaviours so they were more 'Old School', but some of the achievements looked like fun. Clearly one for replaying. Whatever, 2 levels down. Had fun. Good stuff. Oh, yeah, also, I went through the (vast) options and turned off limited quick saves. Now I'm not saying save scumming is necessarily right, but I like it and this is Serious Sam and I am playing on hard (which doesn't feel it so far). So that's my lame justification. Great that they provide so many options though.

Metro 2033 and Darksiders 2 for now. Metro 2033 I did turn on russian speech (since I can understand what is spoken), but left english written text, so that it would be easier to navigate the game.Hear from the spirit-world this mystery:
Creation is summed up, O man, in thee;
Angel and demon, man and beast art thou,
Yea, thou art all thou dost appear to be!

Think I've worked it out of my system now (I hope tbh), however £1.60 well spent for sure. My only gripes with the game is you're limited to 14 characters for your names, you can't rename staff & there's apparently no Sci fi genre...which is a bit bizarre. Though they do have one called cutie. I opted to make may last game a motion cutie one...it sold pretty well surprisingly.

I've been testing out tactics for EA C'tis for the upcoming Dominions 3 PBEM-match. I've learned a lot in a very short time, like
a) scout like crazy
b) if you don't scout, you die
c) 150 lizardmen vs 10 elephants is not a pretty sight for me

Saint's Row: The Third. Finished it once and am on 96% completion after the final mission. Stealing cars got a bit old, so I decided to create a new character (first one was male, this one is female) and see how Hardcore difficulty feels like (hint: not very hardcore, but I am still at the beginning).
Apart from some overpowered upgrades like "Immunity to bullet fire" (granted, upgrades are optional) I love the game. The light-hearted humour appeals to me, as does the way tiny events quickly can develop into sprawling chaos and destruction. However, I feel like some missions or challenges are way more difficult than others of the same "challenge level" - escort missions anyone? - and that everything could be a tiny bit more over-the-top.

HOW THE HELL ONE PLAYS XCOM:UFO ENEMY UNKNOWN?
Second battle, terror mission. I get out a ufo open fire on my operatives. always misses (it is a disk thing) I use all my points to move my characters out of the ship. some manage to fire once at the enemy. no biggie. some hit some miss.
the disk takes out 2 guys
another three die because one of the soldiers becomes brainwashed and unleashes hell on my team killing three of them.
second level difficulty.
I expected it to be hard but that is just silly. Does the game really require me to save scum?

Xcom difficulty settings don't work FYI.

All DOS versions of X-COM have a bug which causes the difficulty setting to revert to "Beginner" after the first combat.
so basically: fuck me.

Prince of Persia 08.
I like that they tried to mix things up but gorgeous art direction aside most of what I actually enjoyed was the stuff they kept the same (the oh so comforting and satisfying acrobatics). Don't particularly enjoy what they did with the combat, preferred the free form ballet of death in the previous titles to the dueling style of this one, which would have been horribly frustrating if it wasn't for the blessed fact it's impossible to fuck up. As for the impossibility of fucking up it actually works quite nicely and makes sense in the acrobatic sections (I stopped trying to press a rewind button after an hour or so!) but I would have preferred if they'd upped the difficulty of them just a bit to offset the generous checkpointing. Also I miss vicious bladed traps.
Light seed collection leads to too much backtracking, glad I looked up the internet to discover there's no beed to collect all the damned things as I can get quite OCD with the PoP games for some reason.
Most of the way through now and I see it as a nice experiment with some plus points but overall not as good as the series' best. Plus I think I can see the ending coming, it's going to be a "twist" that can be seen from miles away.

I finally unpacked my PC (3 months... I missed you so much ! ) and broke one of my steam sales rules: I bought a game at 50%... Torchlight 2.
I'll play in duo with a friend. He plays a crazy Berserker with a grey wolf. I play Lord Victor, a civilized engineer with an amazing moustache and monocle, whose familiar is a ferret with goggles... Mr Spark.
We just started but had tons of fun playing it for about an hour. We play in veteran and already died once (ok I died because I AFKed)... Anyway, the difficulty seems more satisfying than D3.
Will try to play some more soon. I have to find a guide so I don't botch my leveling.
