Oh hey guys, let's remember to quickly ransack the house for loot before we leave - and grab the pistol that guy shot Eggy with, it would be useful to have a backup weapon for that blunderbuss (plus theyre worth money so we could always sell it if Egg doesn't want it).
Also, we should definitely kill those other two skaven, and loot the deaders, (bags I get to loot the leader) and rescue the people, and we need to do all of it very quickly because who knows what might come out of that tunnel.

I need to make those pistols self destruct or something, good session guys, sorry the end was a bit rushed but i needed my beauty sleep, write up some point this week.
Elesium we had a chat and i am not sure we can move the session to saturday evenings permanantly, could do it for time to time but i for one would be excomminicated by the misses if every saturday evening was rp night, not sure where this leaves you? Ill be sad to see you go but i appreciate other commitments may take priority, let me know either way mate.

We should do that - since we have a barge and we're going to be chasing the baddie to a new city, I was planning to ask them if they had any cargo they needed moving, assuming the rest of the party were all right with that.

Yeah sorry guys, regiment is taking up most sunday nights now, because even when I'm finished with the session I have to start earlier and get a lot of paper work done and then get some done afterwards too.

Elesium, I don't think there's any other night the guys can reliably do. I'm pretty easy and can do pretty much any night, but even I don't want to dedicate my Saturday nights to the game. I'll do a weeknight if that works for you and the other chaps, but Saturday's mine.

Great spot egg! I have been looking at virtual table tops as id like combat to involve a bit more movement/positioning etc but the ones iv looked at have been a bit cumbersome, ill check this out and maybe we will give it a whirl next session.
I am happy to do a weekday if that works for everyone, all of harlanders suggested days work for me

Little bit of exposition, for those who do not know in WFRP characters have careers rather than classes and you advance into more advanced careers with experience which offer greater access to characteristic upgrades and more significant skills. You can only advance into a new career when you have all the skills, talents and characteristic upgrades from your current one, the trappings (items, weapons etc) of the new one and a reason to move into it (you may notice our adventurers have managed to bump into exactly the people they need to advance into their chosen careers, this is coincidental…). With that in mind here is a quick update on our parties’ status who have mostly advanced into new careers.
Ludo the Halfling [President Weasel] having proven his talents at a formal archery competition has left his career as a Bounty Hunter to focus on his ranged combat abilities as a Targetteer, he remains surly however. Gottfried [Harlander], still looking to regain his families former status, has left his Noble beginnings to pursue a career as a Politician under the tutorage of Olga Ivanov, the Kislevite rescued from the hands of Johannes Teugen and an experienced politician herself. Christoph [Gorm], a Watchman by trade, has spent his time since the Bogenhafen incident working with the towns Watch and due to his experience was offered the position of Sergeant. The Egg [Egg], an experienced miner, yearns to improve his understanding of the principles of mathematical forces (as well as have greater access to explosives) and as such has moved towards a career as an Engineer, having been taught the basics principles by Reneta Hausier a specialist employed by the thieves guild to safely transport their less than legal goods. Farnoth [Elesium] believes himself ready to learn the greater mysteries of his profession and advance into a career as a Journeyman Mage, but must first acquire the appropriate teacher and materials.
Aubentag, 9th Pflugzeit
Our do-gooder adventurers have arrived in Altdorf having rescued a poor defenceless smuggler boat for the benevolent thieves’ guild and in return for delivering its contraband goods safely they are given the boat, now named the Drunken Troll for some reason. As it was late in the afternoon by the time of their arrival the party decided to follow up on the mission given to them by the witch hunter Tobias Slater on the morrow and as such headed to an inn.
The party find a comfortable inn close to their boat, the Respectable Sailor, and spend the evening dicing and boasting over fine food and drink, when Gottfried is approached by a man who believes him to be Kastor. He states that their cult is pleased he disrupted the work of the Red Crown in Bogenhafen but demand he brings the 20,000 gold coins from his inheritance to Middenheim. Gottfried tries to explain that the inheritance was false but the man does not believe him and quickly leaves.
Marktag, 10th Pflugzeit
The party awake in the morning refreshed, except for Gottfried whose hand has turned purple, how perturbing. With gold weighing heavily in their pockets the party hit the shops and fine out that things are bloody expensive. The Egg purchases a nice new blunderbuss with shot and Gottfired takes a loan out to purchase a best quality leather jack after a recommendation from Olga Ivanov [this was the required trapping for the Politician career] and Ludo must put his hopes of upgrading his beloved Betsy the crossbow for a while longer due to inhibitive costs.
Our adventurer’s then visit the cities Bright College to discuss their mission with a wizard named Blitzen, who they have been advised could help. The party manage to get some information out of him on an associate of Etelka, Ernst Heidlemann, an apparent student of the University of Altdolf, without being turned to cinders (although they did succeed in infuriating him by trying to get money out of him). Further investigations around the university, including the Egg and Ludo threatening a poor student and steward and Gottfried charming the pants off a receptionist [almost literally] lead to an address of Etelka and Ernst.
Staking out the house results in little, but eventually a carriage pulls up and the party are just in time to see Ernst and Etelka get in with the luggage strapped to the roof indicating they may be gone awhile. Gottfired approaches the house and convinces a blind house servant that he is a friend of Ernst and would like to leave him a message for his return. As he is let in Ludo manages to sneak past him and upstairs, noticing the house is particularly clean and, ransacking a few bedrooms, discovers a key in a false draw. This leads him to the basement where he discovers a sanity breaking sight, the cellar seems half physicians study and half laboratory, with autopsied people and blood everywhere. Furthermore there are two cages which hold a number of people who moan and flinch from Ludo’s light. The halfling rummages around in a nearby desk and finds a letter indicating the destination of the two cultists but he then hears a click and finds the door out of the cellar is locked.
Ludo has been gone sometime and the remaining members of the party decide to try plan B, executed by the Egg smashing down the back door and taking a pistol shot to the chest but not before loosing a blast of his new blunderbuss, crippling the ‘blind’ house servant. He is quickly dispatched and the party is led to the cellar by Ludo banging on the door. Our noble adventures decide to rescue the caged people but as they look to the cages they hear a loud bang and a portion of the far wall collapses revealing two dozen horrendous rat men.
As a dwarf the Egg knows them as Skaven and the beasts fan out, with two of their number running upstairs. Their leader addresses the party and demands to know where the two evil people are and the party gladly tells it for some reason. The rat-leader seems surprised but sends two more of its rats back into the tunnel while ordering the remainder to kill the man-things. It gets a bolt in its chest for its trouble, dying and forcing half the rat men to flee in terror immediately. The rest are dispatched easily, leaving our adventurers to ponder this new development.
And there we are, mystery, rat men, student threatening, this adventure has it all! The party did very well, finding the location of Ernst with little assistance or collateral damage, I wanted to squeeze a rat-ogre into that fight but didn’t think it would make sense, be warned! I can’t remember any good lines although there was some serious punning going on at some points which is always approved of.
Next session is on Sunday 17th 8pm onwards. Elesium do you think you’re going to drop out? As I said I will be sad to see you go but I understand, seems like a natural place to leave Farnoth, who can continue his studies at the college and allow you to pick him back up at a later date if you fancy? Let me know either way.
Also let’s discuss increased number of attacks as there was a bit of confusion. The A in characteristics is attacks not actions, you can only ever have one full action/two half action a turn, usually that means one attack as a normal attack is a half action and you can only take the same action once per round, it should be remembered that a round is only a few seconds. However if you have two or more attacks in your profile you can make multiple attacks a round using the Swift Attack action (full action). Obviously if you’re attacking with a normal crossbow you can only attack once a round with it regardless of the number of attacks you can make as you need to reload it (which is why repeater weapons are so effective).
Now I don’t really like this rule as I think it would mean you will only ever use swift attack rather than the other available actions which is a bit boring so I have found a couple of house rules which I think are interesting. The first is that you can use any attack action for all your attacks but if you miss one then that’s you for the round. So for example Ludo has 3 attacks and makes a full attack action with his dagger, you successfully make the first but miss the second so cannot make the third.
The other I though was interesting was adding a penalty for using the same weapon for each attack. For example Christoph makes his three attacks with a full attack action using his sword, makes the first which means the second has -10% and the third is at -20. However if you use another weapon you don’t get that penalty, so Christoph makes his first attack with his sword, bashes with his shield for his second attack and kicks out with his third. Makes it a bit more dynamic I think.
Let me know what you think, should we use one of these house rules, stick to the normal rules or if you have a better suggestion.

Cages full of tallfolk I could look at all day, as a former bounty hunter that just looks like money.
It's probably a bit of an indictment on my character that threatening the snotty student was my favourite part of the evening, closely followed by "Kill them!" " right then, I shoot the leader with my crossbow!" "bugger, you killed him".
No cloak-wearing fancy-pants rat-man gets to sic his minions on us!
As for the combat rules, I can do decent damage with one shot a round, and rapid reload lets me do that. I also get to do two swift attacks if I go into the fight with a pistol crossbow in either hand (or gunpowder pistols, if I eventually learn how to use them). I'm happy to do house rules for combat if people want to - personally I think the option of a single aimed attack with a plus to hit, or multiple swift ones without, is enough of a tactical choice to keep combat interesting - but I do also like the rule I saw where you get increasing minuses for successive attacks.

The rules for attacks could be interesting, maybe we should try out just the normal ones first and see if they are flexible enough. With almost 50 WS now, i could take the chance and just attack twice a round and not get the bonus from aiming. But we'll see, i decided to learn a new language (right...) instead of take the extra attack.

We stopped the session right before the "quick, kill the last two rat men and search the house for valuables and loot the rat men and get the prisoners out and do it all quickly because there might be more baddies" part. If you look a few posts up I did bagsy looting the leader - but I'm pretty sure ninja stars need some sort of special "throwing" or "exotic" weapon skill I don't have.
Also remind me to be very careful of poison when I am searching the rat man, I suspect he's the type to have pockets full of pointy poisoned things.
