Gamespy servers shut down? Should still be able to direct connect, right?

It still has Lan browser (plays nice with hamachi) and direct ip connection.
Modern games DON'T. That's pretty worrying. Years from now games like Assassin's Creed multiplayer and Battlefield 3 will just fall off the internet.

Huh! I felt certain SWAT 4 was available on more reputable download services. I wonder if it has since been removed for the licensing reasons referred to above. Meanwhile, SWAT 4 Gold available on Play.com for £7.50ish or on Amazon.com for $10
Also, no I did not mean "dont say a word." Learn to algorithm. http://imm.io/WOQ2

The tazer/pepper spray aside, I always felt I liked SWAT 3 more than 4.

That's so dumb, the game is just sitting there on the servers, but for some stupid licensing reason they're not allowed to sell it.

I've never seen SWAT 4 for download, and had to buy a CD off (I think) ebay. I've written a feature about the series, as it happens, though it's in dire need of editing and screenshots. The very short version, since it's relevant:
1) As a series, they're remarkable in how many genre shifts they've gone through in so few games, but...
2) Do not buy SWAT 1 or 2. They are terrible.
3) SWAT 3 is on gog.com, however, and is about as good as SWAT 4, although each one has advantages and disadvantages. Both are excellent, and have yet to be matched. 3 has a plot, a simple ongoing career system, and some more diverse and authentic-feeling levels, but 4 has more tactical & less-lethal options, better shooting (or rather, not-shooting), better sound design, and is less anal about what it marks you down for, and gives more feedback about where you screwed up. It also has much better controls, particularly the context-sensitive command / interaction menus.
Both are well worth playing.
