Tank Under Private Ownership
I know that USA citizens are entitled under their constitution to bear arms, but I didn't realize that they go that far to legalize private ownership of land combat tank. And not only that, such tanks can even be equipped with OPERATIONAL main gun, LEGALLY (at least under federal law)!!
I wish I can have one, too. Operational cost is prohibatively high, though.

You need a federal permit, you can only drive it on your property, you need to notify all local authorities when you take it out, and the ammunition is, obviously, not for sale.
Still, people are crazy in Texas.

There are plenty (well, a handful) of people in the UK who own their own tanks, although all weapons have to be removed or made inoperable. I can't remember if my driving license allows me on the road in one. The military driving school is not too far from where I live and although they don't train tanks there, I have been behind some of their tracked all-terrain trucks at the lights.

Super Furry Animals use to have their own tank. They'd take it to festivals and use it blast out rave tunes.
They later sold it to Don Henley of The Eagles who has a few on his ranch. In Texas.Open-faced sandwiches are upon you whether you would risk it or not.

I'm going to a tank museum this weekend, I'll see if I can smuggle one off the premises. Looks like all that time playing Steel Beasts will finally pay off.

You can also own tanks in the UK and other countries. Not quite sure what the rules are on operational status of weapons.
I dont have the websites right now, but if you google around a bit then you will find that owning a used T-72 in working conditions can be as cheap as 10 000 pound.
Offcourse running costs are insane.

Depends, older T-34's are harder to get, even in a pre-restoration state. Its probably easier to go to the graveyard in minsk. A tank like a M5A1 stuart in pristine conditions with working gun can bring up half a million!
