New Modern Warfare 3 Shot Heralds QUIZ!

I've noticed a mistake that's being made by a couple of publishers. EA and Activision both plan to release shooty-man games before Christmas, about some soldiers with some modern weapons having a big fight. One is called Battlefield 3 and the other Modern Warfare 3. But the weird thing is, the two companies keep taking potshots, saying their game isn't like the other. But, see,…

Modern Warfare 3 Is A Shooting Game

Look, I don't want this to be another groundhog day. I don't want the comments thread to fill up with people going 'Call of Duty is boring' and then some other people saying "that's just, like, your opinion, man." I just want you to only bother watching this video of Modern Warfare 3's 'Spec Ops' co-op mode if you honestly have a real interest in…

MW3 Multiplayer: I Feel So Old

Oh my word, I need a nap after this. I feel like an octogenarian who's just been played a Lil' Wayne record. It's so noisy, so fast, so violent. COD multiplayer has become increasingly excessive over the years, and Modern Warfare 3's looks as though it's thrown in everything it can think of - it looks so very far away from simply sniping dudes in…

Call Of Duty: MW3 Allows Multiple Players

There’s a lot to be gleaned from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer World Premiere Trailer, though after typing out the cumbersome title I'm loathe to write anything else due to intense fingercramp. I’ll say this for it though: it manages to make combat look exciting, dramatic and bloody horrible, sometimes simultaneously. There’s lots of shooting, which I expected, lots of killing, which…

Call of Duty: MW3 To Use Steamworks

This just came in from Valve: "The PC version of the product will be powered with Steamworks for both the digital and tangible versions of the game and, as with all Steamworks titles, offline play will also be supported along with Auto-Updating, Achievements, and more. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will also support dedicated servers on day 1." Better, I suppose. The game is…

Modern Warfare 3 To Have Dedicated Servers

Back in the mists of time there was this game called Modern Warfare 2, and it had a bit of a fling with the idea of not bothering to use dedicated servers on PC. This, as you might imagine, caused a bit of consternation among people who actually wanted to play the game in any sensible way. Fortunately for such people, it seems that this…

Modernised: COD:MW3 Spec Ops Trailer

How about this, then, man-shooting fans? Over two Imperial minutes (count 'em!) of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3's Spec Ops survival mode can be found below, via BluesNews. What is it? Well, I dunno. Let's say it's some kind of escalating fight mode, with its own perks and stuff, featuring lots of different opponents: dogs, men, men, men, big armoured men. Big. Armoured. Men.…

Activision Announce Call Of Duty Convention

Ye Gods. Activision has announced Call of Duty XP 2011, a convention for Call of Duty fans taking place in Los Angeles on September the 2nd and 3rd of this year. Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg cheerily admits to the event being based on Blizzard's yearly Blizzcon and says that it will allow CoD fans to "feel like you stepped into the game."

Handbags: Activision And EA Don’t Get On

Oh, you two. I'm unsure whether the endless spat between two of the world's biggest games publishers is healthy. With Activision currently occupying the coveted Most Hated spot at the top of the publishing ladder, once so impressively held by EA, you can see why there's rivalry. "We've sacked another entire dev team! Take that!" "Well then! We're going to cancel a game people were…

Very Modern Warfare: Thoughts On CoD Elite

It was always going to happen, and now it has. The nature of a corporation is never to sit still and be content with its lot - it's to forever look to ways to make more money from what it has. (If RPS had a scrap of sense, we'd have launched a couple of spin-offs by now, but a corporation we are not). Activision was…

Antisocial Network: Call of Duty Elite Trailer

The day has come: Activision has finally introduced Plan B. Plan B is much like Plan A, in that it also involves making an absolute crapton of money out of Call of Duty. This time, it's called Call of Duty Elite, and it's a social networking, clan-arranging, video-sharing, stat-analysing online service for COD multiplayer. Some aspects for it will be free; others will involve a…

Modern Warfare 3 Shows Its Wares

I guess Activision have been pretty good at rolling with the hard punch they took when Kotaku controversially busted open most of Modern Warfare 3's secrets the other week. A selection of trailers has now been followed by a preview day for the press that Activision's prepared to talk to (sigh). Here's Eurogamer's and VG24/7's impressions, both of which suggest a pretty familiarly hyper-scripted experience,…

Quick, Something! Modern Warfare 3 Teasers

It's been a funny week for leaks and attacks. Deus Ex Human Revolution's website getting hacked (which does seem a bit like Thief 4's website getting stolen), an MP leaking a game announcement (which is my favourite embargo break ever - presumably Creative Assembly will be punishing Vaizey by refusing to give him preview code), and then the rather astonishing complete spoil-fest of not only…

Call of Whoopsie: Modern Warfare 3 Spoilt?

Someone's getting a) bollocked b) fired c) executed tonight, I'm sure. If Kotaku's sources are right, basically everything about this year's Call of Duty has just been blown wide open and revealed to John Q. Public some six months before likely release. It's Modern Warfare 3 and it's...

It’s Modern Warfare 3, A Hoax Then

Update: As vaguely suspected, it's a hoax after all. A slightly boring hoax. Well done, boring hoaxers. Surprise! I've just broken into your house and stolen all your milk. No, that's not the real surprise. The real surprise is that there's going to be another Call of Duty game this year. No, that's not a surprise either. The real surprise is that it sounds like…

InfiniRaveHammer = Modern Warfare 3?

Oh look, another headline with a question mark in the title. That's journamalisming for you. Can we have some less ambiguous news now please? So - Black Ops 2, World At War 2, Modern Warfare 3 or some other two to three word summation of conflict? Until now, we had no idea what this year's Call of Duty game would be. We also had no…
