Dark Souls: Prepare To Stutter

So what's happening with Dark Souls: Prepare To Die? After a spirited campaign convinced From Software and Namco Bandai to port the game across to PC, we've heard some troubling stories about how they aren't going to be optimising it too much for the madness of a mouse and keyboard, and for some insane reason are choosing to cripple it with GFWL, and now Eurogamer…

Feature:

Hands On (Heart): Dark Souls

Mr Florence, known for his mild verse, has been playing Dark Souls on the console boxes, and wants to convey that experience to you now.Hi. Rab Florence here. Dark Souls is coming to PC, and so I must talk to you about it. I think that the game is one of the most important designs of the past decade. I'm so glad you're all going…

Dark Souls PC: Prepare To Sigh

VG247 has just run a slightly dispiriting dev interview/feature on the subject of brutal RPG Dark Souls' community-demanded PC version and... well, while we remain the lightest of souls about the fact it's happening at all, the news isn't quite what we'd hoped for. As well as the exasperating, bewildering matter of it including Microsoft e'er-temperamental Games For Windows Live matchmaking/copy-protection, it sounds as if…

Prepare For GFWL In Dark Souls: Prepare To Die

I suppose there's always a catch. On the upside, Namco Bandai's officially given in to our appropriately tough-as-nails, stubble-faced Internet petition, and Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition has been pegged with an August 24 release date. By and large, it's a port about as straightforward as a monster whose single, child-like aspiration in life is to brutally maul you, but it'll have two new…

Yes, Dark Souls PC Might Actually Be Happening

Namco are busy teasing a Dark Souls announcement on their Facebook page, and it looks like it could be confirmation for the heavily petitioned-for PC version. That is not clue enough on its own, of course, but it seems that Australian PC mag PC Power Play are teasing their next month's edition with a page reading "You Died". HmmMMMMmmmmMMMMmmmmm!

Let’s Excitedly Request Dark Souls PC Again

Masanori Takeuchi, head of R&D at From Software, spoke to Gametrailers at GDC and, among his lust for cleverphone development, he did find time to acknowledge the existence of a much-signed petition for a PC version of Dark Souls."That's going to be a decision left up to the publisher, Bandai Namco, but yes, we have seen the comments and we do know of the desire…

Dark Souls Petition Has Namco’s Attention

The original community manager who posted about Dark Souls needing public support to make it to PC has posted again, saying: I honestly wasn't expecting such a massive support. My boss(es) even came to talk to me about this, after it explodes all around the world. If you wanted to have the attention of Namco Bandai Games, now you have it. The future is in…

Dark Souls For PC Petition Close To 60,000

Following this story in which I condescendingly suggested that Namco could convert a couple of its better games to PC, 59,900 people have so far signed an online petition to bring the game to the one true format. Is that enough to change the publisher's mind? Hard to say, but we're expecting Namco to make an official statement about this at some point soon. Might…

The Quest For Dark Souls On PC

UPDATE: Namco have said that this is nothing more than a "rumor" stemming from the link (obviously) and offer no comment on whether they are likely to produce a PC version of the game.Update 2: Here's a petition to sign for Dark Souls PC, if you like signing petitions. Over 9000 signatures so far. Let's hope it makes the right executives pay attention.Quite a few…
