Hard Reset Redux Gameplay Vid Heralds June Launch

Before reviving 3DR Realms's Shadow Warrior, developers Flying Wild Hog made their very own '90s-style FPS, Hard Reset. As well as working on Shadow Warrior 2, Flying Wild Hog have been polishing up Hard Reset for a new release as Hard Reset Redux [official site], and now it has a release date of June 3rd. This announcement also brings a 16-minute gameplay trailer, and shows…

Hard Reset Redux Revamping Throwback FPS

Shadow Warrior 2 looks pretty dang swish, doesn't it? I've been pretty surprised by, and pleased with, how nicely Polish studio Flying Wild Hog's revive-o-rebooting of 3D Realms' vintage FPS has gone well. Now they're also returning to their own older work. Hard Reset Redux is coming, a revamp of the throwback FPS they released in 2011. It doesn't sound massively different, with fancied-up graphics…

Split Personality: Hard Reset Devs Revive Shadow Warrior

In a post-re-Rise-of-the-Triad world, any franchise reboot is possible. Case in point: Shadow Warrior. The original was a ninja-themed first-person shooter sliced and diced from Duke Nukem 3D's cloth - Build engine, unrepentantly offensive humor, and all - but it didn't exactly have legions of lovers banging down doors for its long-overdue return. At least, not that I'm aware of. Maybe I should've looked in more shadows.…

Hart Reset: Flying Wild Hog’s Free PDF Artbook

I'd be lying if I said the art of Hard Reset was the most striking thing about it - I'd be more inclined to go with 'shooting lots and lots of robots with nice lighting effects.' Nonetheless, it's jolly nice of devs Flying Wild Hog to offer up a free, 137MB PDF artbook, whose 46 heavily-illustrated pages contain concept art, environments, characters and all sorts.…

Gift That Keeps On Gibbing: Hard Reset’s Free DLC

Well, this sort of came out of nowhere - not that I'm complaining, mind you. After already waving its magically miserly wand and poofing our dusty old copies of Hard Reset into shiny Extended Editions for free, Flying Wild Hog's seen fit to hand out yet another freebie. [Edit: It's actually the Extended Edition's content, but released as free DLC on Steam. Throw rotten vegetables…

Hard Reset Unleashes Bonus Robotic Hell

Pretty-lookin' cyberpunk robo-blaster Hard Reset - which John was amused but disappointed by - has received a big old patch, 1.2, which adds a Survival mode which "unleashes wave after wave of robotic hell upon the player, who has make good use of weapon upgrades to delay the inevitable as long as possible." The mode is based in two new maps, and has a leaderboard…

Hard Reset review

Announced and released within just four months, the first game from Polish super-group Flying Wild Hog, Hard Reset, was something of a surprise to the world of PC. Dedicated to the platform, it's a defiant thing: a first-person shooter with no multiplayer, no console vibe, and old-school shooter values, and it's due out next Tuesday. So does it deliver in its specific niche. Having just…

Reboot: Hard Reset Footage

The big K has gone and recorded seven Imperial minutes of video footage of Hard Reset, the P.C. O.N.L.Y. FPS from newly formed Polish super-dev, Flying Wild Hog. It's full of explosions, environmental interactions (usually involving explosions), fights with baddies, some explosions, some spectacular looking explosions environments. This is one to watch, says I.

Hands On: Hard Reset

Hard Reset seemed to appear from nowhere. First a screenshot. Then a name and a video. Then a pile of screenshots. That started barely a month ago, with the game due out as soon as September. And then yesterday we found a few levels of the game arrive in our inbox. So I've had a play of this PC-only shooter. (The screenshots aren't ours, as…

Ctrl Alt DESTROY: Hard Reset Screens

Why, twas only Sunday that Alec brought us the in-game footage of Hard Reset - the PC only shooter from Polish Travelling Wilburys-like developer best-of, Flying Wild Hog. Made up of developers from People Can Fly, CD Project and City Interactive. And today, for those who find moving pictures distracting and upsetting, I've some still images of the game in action. And for once the…

Hard Reset: The PC-Only, “Old-School” FPS

Time for a proper look at Hard Reset, the PC-exclusive FPS from new studio Flying Wild Hog, a supergroup of Polish devs formely from CD Projekt Red, People Can Fly and City Interactive. The initial trailer was really just a bloke very slowly looking up, with occasional flashes of some manner of urban dystopia. This one's a full minute of cyberbunk manshootiness aimed to demonstrate…

Tech Supported: Hard Reset

The chaps at PCG report that Polish developer Flying Wild Hog have announced their game: it's a cyberpunk FPS called Hard Reset. The Flying Wild Hog team is made up from members of the team behind Bulletstorm (from People Can Fly), and also folks from CD Projekt and City Interactive. The game is apparently "hard dark sci-fi", so that means plenty of references from the…
