Feature: Glomp

Have you played… Osmos?

Osmos is very zen. It does not demand much from you. You are a mote of dust, or possibly some kind of organism -- a single cell of bacteria. Fine. So you float around in this kind of plasma, or whatever, and glomp up smaller cells. You get bigger with each cell you glomp. Survival of the fittest, and at very basic, almost non-violent level.…

The 20 best non-violent games on PC

My nerves have been sufficiently jangled and my trigger-finger sufficiently itched by the glut of action games which landed in the closing months of last year. I crave an altogether more sedate beginning to 2018, and so my mind turns to games in which violence, reflex or any other kind of unblinking attentiveness takes a back seat.

Day-Saving Savings: Indie Royale All-Charity Pack

Games are pretty great. I realize that this is an incredibly contentious statement, but just work with me on this one. You know what else is really great, though? Saving the entire free world. Space Waif: Solar 2 Is What I Like

Three wise men once said, “Intergalactic, planetary. Planetary, intergalactic.” I think we all take solace from those words at some points in our life. For are we not all made of star stuff? Fresh Goo: Osmos

I've been having a bit of a play of one of 2009's big IGF games, Osmos. The peculiar cell-based ambient puzzler is due for release very soon, so I thought it might be an idea to post a few impressions, and let you guys have a look at the trailer, which is exclusive to RPS. (For now, at least.) Go take a look.

One For The Amoeba: Osmos

I just noticed that Hemisphere Games have an alpha demo up for their IGF 2009 Seumas McNally Grand Prize nominated ambient puzzler, Osmos. The 7mb installer is here. It's a game of cellular absorption, in which your self-propelled blob must absorb those smaller than itself to progress, while avoiding being absorbed itself. The trick is not to lose too much matter as your propel yourself.…
