Well, this is odd. We've known about an upcoming Payday: The Heist-Left 4 Dead crossover for about a month now, and - as is often the case with these things - it materialized earlier today via YouTube's eyebeaming ethers. ""Have you ever wondered how the Left 4 Dead series began?" the video's description asked, forcing me to realize that I've never actually wondered that. "It…

Seems a trifle odd to be saying this given 2009's foremost angry internet man-generator was the perceived too-soon release of a sequel to Left 4 Dead, but Valve's zombathons seem to me to have been left a little fallow of late. Team Fortress 2's ongoing transformation into QVC, Portal 2's awards-hogging and fever-pitch speculation about Half Life has been the order of the day for…
I think it's more of a polite corporate takeover (IF SUCH A THING EXISTS) than a masked, gun-toting robbery, but the fact remains that Syndicate Riddick developer Starbreeze is awaiting shareholder approval as it bids to buy Overkill Software, they of PayDay: The Heist. If it all goes ahead, Overkill shall continue enhancements of the first game while also working on a sequel, which must…
Ooh, I'm in PSA mode: bank-robbing FPS PayDay:The Heist is free on Steam this weekend, and 50% off if you choose to buy it. Dan Gril loved it, and I concur that it's an excellent mash-up of gaming and film influences: everything from the opening sequence of The Dark Knight to Heat is mined and tossed into a Left 4 Deadish co-op run and gun.…
Feature: Everyday is payday with crime!
We forced Dan Gril to wear a clown mask, break into Sony's HQ, and hold everyone up until they gave us information on Overkill Software's heist-them-up, Payday. Read on to find out all about the life of crime that awaits.
Payday: The Heist, as Quintin pointed out, looks like it should be a stealth-based bank robbing game, but is in fact a full-on murder-em-up. It's Left 4 Dead, except they're not dead until you show up. Which is an angle on bank robbery you don't often see. Take a look at some of those angles in the screenshot gallery below.

How would you like to play Left 4 Dead, only instead of killing zombies you're killing a building robbing a building? Do you think that's something you'd enjoy? That's what download-only multiplayer FPS PayDay: The Heist is going to offer. This game's name surfaced about a week back, but now we have a debut trailer and footage of some people playing the game at E3.…
