Good news, dinosaur fans! Soon you'll be able to murder dinosaurs or murder people who want to murder dinosaurs, depending on quite how you feel about ancient reptiles reborn in the modern era, better than ever. Primal Carnage was already one of the finer dinosaur multiplayer FPSs around, and next month will bring Primal Carnage: Extinction - a sequel that's really a remake.Bad news, Primal…

I opened my nasally Pteranodon vocal passages and shrieked for more interesting stuff to do in Primal Carnage, and - as if by magic/coincidental timing/but I really hope it's magic - Lukewarm Media answered. The first batch of DLC's been officially dubbed "Get to the Chopper," and it's about, well, getting to a chopper. And also away from dinosaurs. Both of these goals seem fairly…
Feature: Blasting The Past
Dinosaurs vs humans with high-powered modern weaponry. It's a tale as old as time - or at least Jurassic Park. Games, though, have struggled desperately to strike a proper balance between man and his planet-populating predecessor, but to little avail. So then, can Lukewarm's Primal Carnage finally break the lukewarm streak kicked off by the likes of Dino D-Day and Orion: Dino Beatdown? Here's wot I…
Are dinosaurs the new zombies? Could they end up becoming our next guiltless gun target du jour? Between Dino D-Day, Orion: Dino Beatdown, and now Primal Carnage, pre-history's least lovable lizards have recently found themselves in our crosshairs more than, well, ever - largely because crosshairs didn't exist back when they weren't asteroid dust. Problem is, no one's really figured out how exactly to make…
Dinosaurs versus heavily armed people. It's a tale as old as time, with a clear artistic through line that begins in the cave paintings of Mann-Shüt, which depicted heroic cavefolk firing rocks at armies of marauding velociraptors, and ends with Primal Carnage. It's an online PvP game that allows players to bite their enemies in half, although presumably only if they choose to be a…
There's a school of thought that says half the videogames people make are just big-budget, explosion-packed attempts at reliving rah-rah-rah playground fantasies. But that's a dumb accusation. Obviously, we're really attempting to relive rah-rah-rah action figure fantasies. Case in point: gaming's un-ending pursuit of the ultimate man vs dinosaur sim, ripped straight from my childhood's imaginary "G.I. Joe vs Godzilla" newspaper headlines. Sadly, both Dino D-Day…

For some reason, dinosaurs seem to be appearing more and more in my daily conversation. Perhaps the popularity of creatures that died millions of years ago is on the rise again, or perhaps it's some kind of omen. Only time will tell. Meanwhile, I must continue the dino-commentary, which today includes a man armed with some kind of chainsaw-flamer fighting carnivorous dinosaurs of various sizes.…
Only a fool would take the recent release of Orion: Dino Beatdown as evidence that there are sufficient dinosaur versus man games in the world. Until the dinosaurs outnumber the dead it is the duty of every so-called hunter of great game to demand more 'clever girl' and less 'shambling, idiotic ghoul'. Like a t-rex drooling on a leashed goat, John has salivated over previous…
There's a museum in Kentucky entirely dedicated to promulgating a literal interpretation of the Genesis poem to the masses. And a big part of that, for these hardcore Creationists, is insisting that dinosaurs and humans co-existed. So sure, you might want to weep and tear your clothes at the countless millions of dollars being spent on a temple dedicated to spreading what most would consider…

We've been keeping an eye on Primal Carnage for a good long while, as it's transformed from a simple fan project into something that's looking quite extraordinary. And why did it first get our attention almost exactly a year ago? Simple: DINOSAURS VS. HUMANS. We've seen tech videos, and then been blown away after the switch to the Unreal Development Kit. The latest video knocks…
Primal Carnage, the dinosaurs versus humans multiplayer project from independent developers Lukewarm Media, has released some awesome new footage. It's accompanied by quite a change - the team has switched from Ungine to the Unreal Development Kit, and what was already looking spectacular now looks super-spectacular. Below, along with lots of new details and screenshots, is an epic dino-fight, in realtime in-game UDK footage. I…

We mentioned Primal Carnage last month, the mod-gone-commercial multiplayer FPS that pits humans versus dinosaurs. Which is awesome even just to type. At the time we had a couple of videos of dinosaur movement, and some impressive screenshots. We all got appropriately excited about it. And now, crikey. You really should watch the video below. Twice.
Man versus dinosaur. We all know the days are coming. In preparation for the ultimate war, there's Primal Carnage. It's to be a team-based FPS multiplayer, in which one side plays as the humans, the other the giant stompy reptiles. It's from indie team Lukewarm Media, previously noticed for their unreleased mod/full game, Light Spire. But we're focusing on dinosaurs just now, and Primal Carnage…
