Screenshot Saturday Sundays: Letting the sun set on windmills, androids and dusty old towers

Screenshot Saturday! That time of week where game developers and hobbyists subject their unfinished works for public scrutiny. This week: Watching the evening roll in over storm-rattled windmills, windswept towers, and Louisiana androids. Oh, and one mean-as-hell duck.

From Primordia’s creators, Strangeland issues forth

First, a confession: I grew up playing adventure games. Sierra, parser-based adventures, even. Later, point-and-click adventures. I was consistently terrible at them, right up to and through the 'golden age' of Lucasarts' less sadistic designs. Those games hated me, and I often hated them in kind.I loved Primordia, though (moreso than Nathan Grayson did, it seems), Wormwood's short, sweet and perfectly paced puzzle adventure. The…

Feature: Post-Robopocalyptic

Primordia review

Fact: robots and adventure are my two favorite things. I like the former even more when they implicitly worship me, so Primordia seemed right up my alley. Oh, and I suppose a gorgeously retro sci-fi aesthetic also helped to sweeten the deal. But can this partnership between modern point-and-click maestros Wadjet Eye Games and fledgling upstart Wormwood Studios teach my icy, robotic soul how to…

Waking More: Valve Greenlights 13 New Games

Like somewhat rusty clockwork, the not entirely predictable Steam Greenlight machine has whirred to life again - granting the wishes of hopeful developers who dared perform the dark rituals needed to invoke its promotional might. This time around, 13 games made the cut, and - as is becoming a happy trend - it's a fairly diverse selection. Well-ish known standouts include Waking Mars, Primordia, and…

Whirr-Click: Primordia Demo, Release Date

Wadjeteye and Wormwood Studios have a new adventure coming out on December 5th. It's called Primordia, and you can play a demo of it right here. They explain: "Set in a post-apocalyptic world strewn with cast-off machines, Primordia tells the story of Horatio Nullbuilt, a stoic robot who values his solitude and independence. Horatio spends his days studying the Book of Man, sparring with his…

Oh, The (Lack Of) Humanity: Primordia Out Next Month

If Primordia - a new adventure with involvement from folks who worked on Resonance and Bastion, among others - is to be believed, we had it all wrong for so, so many years: adventure games never died. We did. In Primordia's dust-and-rust-stained universe, humans have been extinct for so long that the world's not-so-new robot overlords deem them the stuff of myth and legend. Admittedly, "Humanity's…

Oh My: Resonance/Gemini Rue Folks Announce Primordia

It's been an almost absurdly good year for adventure games, but there are still four months left on the calendar. And so along comes the Wormwood-developed Primordia, coated head-to-mechanized-toe in dystopic dust, but holding its head high thanks to a partnership with Wadjet Eye Games, which puts it alongside the likes of Resonance, Gemini Rue, Blackwell Deception, and The Shivah - among others. In short, the…
