I haven't played a masochistic gravity-defying platformer since I finished the Veni Vidi Vici run back in the good old days. But this side-scrolling runner looks like the business. RunGunJumpGun [official site] features a spaceman out of his depth in a galaxy of weirdos, armed with a gun that can only shoot down or forward. Firing down propels you into the air and firing forward let's you drop while also blasting obstacles and enemies out of your way. That's it. Two buttons, one gun, angry music. Come see it in action.
Well, that looks sufficiently infuriating. Although the game's title at the end was a little bit of a 'don't dead open inside' moment. Run Jump... Gun Gun? Never mind. The art might look familiar and that's because Niklas Åkerblad, aka El Huervo, the artist on the Hotline Miamis and Else Heart.Break() had a hand in it all.
It will feature 120 levels across three worlds and there will be some shiny trinkets (oh god) to nab along the spikey way. On top of that, there'll be a marathon mode with global rankings, for those of you who want to go slowly mad.
Your many deaths are scheduled for August 31st. God speed.
