Suda51's The Silver Case Demo Is Out Now
Murder Most Mysterious
Polish your magnifying glasses, The Silver Case [official site] PC remake now has a demo. This bit of the remake was originally shown at this year's BitSummit in Kyoto, Japan. The demo features the beginning of the first chapter of the game, Decoyman, giving you a brief chance to situate yourself in the story as a member of Republic, a Special Forces Unit. The Silver Case was Suda51's first game, launched in 1999 on PlayStation.
Players can play through the chapter, although saving is not enabled at this time.
The game was never localized for western audiences until now. It's quite different from Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture's more recent, generally off-the-wall work in that it's a murder-mystery visual novel with a more serious tone. The story centers around infamous criminal Kamui Uehara, and his ties to a suspicious string of murders 20 years prior to the start of the game. The case is reopened after a shooting, placing Uehara as the main suspect. It's your job to solve the caper once and for all.
The Silver Case demo is free on both Steam and Playism, with a full release expected in the fall.
