Housebound Horror Allison Road Back From The Grave

It’s the curse that keeps on giving. Allison Road [official site], the cancelled first-person horror about wandering around inside your family home stalked by a creepy girl with a bad case of the Blood Drools, has been revived. Its original developer, Christian Kesler, told IGN that he is continuing to work on it alone. Which is a scary prospect by itself, considering the game’s spoooooky history.

The Reason Why Allison Road Was Cancelled, Kinda, Ish

Don’t go chasing ghost stories. You’ll find nothing and be disappointed or, worse, find something and discover it’s so much less than you’d wanted. Whatever you think you saw or heard, it’s gone.

Yes, the makers of Allison Road [official site] have now explained why they cancelled their first-person horror inspired by the Silent Hills teaser game PT (Playable Teaser). No, none of what they say will give you any peace. If you were interested in the game, accept that it’s gone and move on with your life. Read on at your own peril.

Dead End: Suburban Horror Game Allison Road Cancelled

Allison Road [official site] manifested onto Kickstarter in the aftermath of Silent Hills cancellation. The PT demo that teased the survival horror collaboration between Hideo ‘Metal Gear’ Kojima and cinema’s Guillermo del Toro had more buzz about it than many released games, and when it was pulled from the Playstation Store (the only place it had been available to download), it swiftly attained an almost mythological status.

Suburban scare ’em up Allison Road looked like one of the games most likely to pick up PT’s ball and run with it. Well, score this one a fumble, because it too has been cancelled.

Allison Road Cancels Kickstarter, Snags Publisher

The cancellation of Silent Hills becomes more distressing every time a new piece of information emerges. Guillermo del Toro’s tweet stating that horror manga maestro Junji Ito would have collaborated on the game was a cruel blow and anyone who has encountered his work will understand why. When I first looked at Allison Road [official site], I hoped it would live up to the legacy of PT, the playable teaser for Silent Hills that caused such a stir. Now, the Kickstarter has been cancelled before reaching its target but that’s because Worms developer (and indie publisher) Team17 have stepped in.

Silent Hills Meets Gone Home: Allison Road Kickstarter

Alice spotted Allison Road [official site] when it first started haunting the internet back in July. I’ve just watched the same 13 minute long prototype video covered in that post and feel the same way about it. Creepy, pleasingly packed with interactive bits and bobs, and somewhat spoiled whenever the protagonist mutters to himself. So what has changed? Well, there’s a Kickstarter, as well as confirmation that the game is set on “a quiet street in the suburbs of Manchester, UK”. That’s where I’m set!

Allison Road Trailer: P.T.-ish First-Person Spooking

Oh. Hello.

Konami may have murdered their first-person spooker P.T., but the Silent Hill promo game will surely inspire dozens of imitators and admirers. Allison Road [Facebook page] is clearly inspired by P.T., though a bit more literal and set inside a British terraced house.

A new 13-minute gameplay trailer shows off their current prototype, and it’s awfully pretty. Plenty of stuff to pick up and fiddle with too, which I always appreciate. Think along the lines of One Late Night on a smaller scale and not pants, or Gone Home‘s secret ghost ending. Come see:
