Harvest time comes for Life is feudal: Forest Village

Town-builder and serf-bosser Life is Feudal: Forest Village [official site] will be leaving early access this month, all ripe and ready for consumption. When I last played it, all the women in my village died in a single unsupervised four year period, leaving the town slowly dying with six men. They all succumbed to exposure one day as they dismantled the roof of the tavern. The village of Scallyminster was no more. But maybe that won’t happen to you because some things have been added since then.

Life Is Feudal Leaving Early Access On Nov 17th

Life Is Feudal: Your Own [official site] has been in Early Access since September of last year, and news arrived this morning that the full release is set for November 17th. We haven’t checked in on the 64-player medieval sandbox sim for around 12 months so I’ve gathered information from some of the recent changelogs below. There’s also a snazzy animated trailer narrated by Sean Bean, supporting actor in recent poo-tatoes flick The Martian.

Life Is Pain, Life Is Confusing: Life Is Feudal

I am confused, noble readers. Perplexed. Stumped, somewhat. Running desperately out of synonyms. Not by Life is Feudal: Your Own itself, to give it its slightly odd full title. That’s a fairly cool if definitely-still-alpha-looking medieval-ish hardcore multiplayer sandbox with severe death penalties and all the other survival systems you’d expect. What’s raising my chainmail eyebrow is its popularity. It’s been locked in the top five of Steam’s best sellers list since release despite (perhaps because of?) the wealth of options within its steel-to-the-bollocks brutal genre. It’s certainly a new wrapper for the formula, but the first time indie studio behind it freely admits it’s as broken as the rest of them.
