Have You Played… Little Inferno?

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time.

Little Inferno [official site] is a game about burning things. It’s also a game about games, a deconstruction of in-app purchases, and tap- and click-based repetition.

Little Inferno Devs Crank Up Human Resource Machine

Little Inferno showed what we do with consumer products at home – we burn them in a nice big fire for giggles so we can get more stuff – but where do products come from? Developers Tomorrow Corporation are now showing us a sliver of where the magic happens, revealing the Human Resource Machine [official site]. Their latest is a programming puzzle game, where you use simple syntax to program a hapless office worker to perform tasks. They do so enjoy being micromanaged, those wee drones.

Tidy up your tie and polish your shoes, as Human Resources Corporation is now out.

Goodness: Humble Bundle 8 Has Hotline Miami, Proteus

I wish people took me seriously every time *I* put on a chicken mask.

You know, I never really thought about it before, but I think Proteus and Hotline Miami are videogame inverses. One’s about languidly strolling around a neon-bubblegum dreamscape paradise while the other’s about blink-and-you’ll-be-on-the-receiving-end-of-it murder in an entirely different kind of neon-bubblegum dreamscape “paradise”. They are one anther’s bizarro twin, eternally opposed but forever intertwined. Also, they’re in the latest Humble Indie Bundle together, which is neat. And neater still? Probably the fact that they’re joined by Little Inferno, Awesomenauts, Capsized, Thomas Was Alone, and Dear Esther. Yeah, eight is pretty great. Or something.

Little Inferno Kindles Release Day Fires

Tomorrow Corporation’s combustion-based game, Little Inferno, has released a launch trailer, which you can see below. It’s still not much clearer how the game works, but it appears to be a game of burning things, and then buying new things to be burned, with a bunch of side-effects from the things which are turned to ashes. If you are intrigued you can now buy access to the beta over here, or the game is out proper on the 18th. I’ll have some thoughts on it for you in a day or so.

Happy Burnsday: Little Inferno Release Date

If I were Tomorrow Corporation, I would have released Little Inferno on Robert Burns Day, but that’s in January and the World of Goo creators’ new game is a launch title for the Wii U so it must come out earlier. That’s a good thing though because the PC release will be at the same time: November 18th. As the teaser trailer showed, it’s a game about burning things. All the things. Maybe it’ll be a little like Trash Panic or maybe it’ll be nothing like Trash Panic. It’ll almost certainly involve burning things. Little things. Also expect some sort of playing around with physics, fire physics, and, hopefully, a delightful soundtrack.

Little Inferno Teaser Burns Toys, Memories

Tomorrow Corporation (Kyle “World Of Goo” Gabler, Allan “Worked At EA” Blomquist, Kyle “Henry Hatsworth” Gray) have released a trailer for their forthcoming game, Little Inferno. It tells of a world which is suffering a mysterious ice-age, and children who must burn toys to stay warm.

Yes, it’s a bit odd. See it below.
