Europa Universalis IV Launches New Expansion; Crusader Kings II Rewards Cannibals

A new Europa Universalis IV [official site] expansion, named Rights of Man, is out today. This means that people who pay £15 can play with expanded diplomatic options as a Great Power. As is the traditional Paradox grand strategy way, a big update has launched alongside this expansion with fixes and additions for all.

Look, if I sound half-hearted, it’s because I’m reading the notes for a Crusader Kings II patch Paradox also released today, and that has the lot: cats, fraudulent mystics, and cannibals finding human heads in their beds. EU4 is a let-down on the japery front.

Crusader Kings II: Conclave Arrives, Toting Update

The launch of a new expansion for Crusader Kings II [official site] is a happy time. Folks with spare cash can add an interesting new system to the dynasty-building strategy game, all players benefit from a big free update launching alongside it, and non-players like me get to enjoy the silliness that comes in that update’s changelog.

This from yesterday’s listing caught my eye: “Baby Cows are Milkable” so I’ve gone through a bunch of recent updates to list out my favourite fixes.

Self-Replicating Babies: Sims 4 Patch Note Fun Begins

Youths! Always the root of the problem.

“Stopped vampires from pinning their crimes on babies and children.” You don’t need to play Dwarf Fortress to enjoy a changelog note like that. Simulations encouraging emergent gameplay lead to emergent bugs, weird and wonderful confluences of complexities. The Sims 4 might not have dwarves, vampires, goblins, kidnapping, or horseshoe crab people, but its zany take on everyday life evidently can still bring some fun bugs to read about.

The game launches this week (today in North America, Thursday in Europe–grumble grumble) and a launch-day patch means wacky fun changelogs are already arriving. Fixed by this first update are issues with hibernating babies and a Reaper who’s just not that into you.
