J.J. Abrams’s Bad Robot forms games division

Bad Robot, the production company of J.J. “I make every show and movie starting with ‘Star'” Abrams, have officially opened a video games division. They have dabbled in games before, including collaborating with Valve on Team Fortress 2’s Pass Time mode and with ChAIR on the still-unseen Spyjinx, but now they’re really going for it. Video games are a good match for J.J.: they share the same wild lust for exaggerated lensflare effects. What makes this most interesting is that the creative director of Bad Robot Games is Tim Keenan, the creator of wonderful low-fi sci-fi horror Duskers. Read the rest of this entry »

Star Wars Chap J.J. Abrams & ChAIR Are Up To Spyjinx

Your man J.J. Abrams, him behind the new Star Wars and Star Trek and Star Lost and Star Alias, is sauntering into video games with a game not about Stars at all. He and his production company Bad Robot are working with Infinity Blade and Shadow Complex devs ChAIR on Spyjinx [official site], a game clearly about espionage. They’re a bit vague about what else it is, and are showing nothing of it right now, but I’m up for spy antics from this pairing.

Team Fortress 2 Gets New Ball Sport PASS Time Mode

Isn’t it nice when companies become friends? Valve and Bad Robot, J. J. Abrams production company responsible for TV shows like Lost and movies like Super 8, have teamed up to produce a new mode for Team Fortress 2 [official site]. It’s called PASS Time and it blends Team Fortress 2 with the “fast-paced sports of soccer, hockey and basketball.”
