Inside earns 4 awards as BAFTA winners announced

Eerie puzzle platformer Inside [official site] has nabbed four awards as the winners of this year’s videogame BAFTAs were announced at the annual ceremony in London. Firewatch and Overcooked were also lathered with attention, winning two awards each. But some skinny bum in a dirty shirt called ‘Nathan’ took home the Best Game award for something called Uncharted 4, which is, like, probably not even that cool, chuh.

British Academy Games Awards 2016: All The Winners

The gaming Baftas (which are more properly referred to as the British Academy Games Awards) have concluded and, while I assume a dedicated few will remain on the Twitch chat channel copy pasting “LIFE IS STRANGE” and “UNDERTALE!” into the chat box I suspect others may have missed the show SO! in the interests of keeping you up to date here is the full list of winners:

Blocky Boris Announces London Games Festival

Updated to add a bit more about how the funding/investment is expected to filter along with regard to the UK games industry outside London.

The London Games Festival is being revived and will take place in early April. April 1-10 to be precise.

The festival is part of a wider three-year programme and aims “to do for London what Fashion Week has done for the fashion sector”. More on that in a moment but I guess the festival itself will only be guaranteed for those three years then?

Wins For Braben, Mordor And Alien: BAFTA Game Awards

Last night, BAFTA gathered in London to dish out sinister metal masks to a chosen few gamesfolk who had been found worthy of such an honour. I tend to be dismissive of Awards Shows, unless something that I really like wins a tiny trophy – then I’m quite happy and momentarily convinced that the world is just and right. It happened with Cave Johnson at this year’s Academy Awards (I’m ambivalent about Birdman) and at the 2015 BAFTA Game Awards it happened with…Destiny as best game? Oh no. Full results below.
