Bethesda’s BattleCry Beta Beginning… Autumn

Bethesda’s first ever E3 press conference kicked off the event with a strong showing, but despite Doom and Fallout flavoured highs, it wasn’t without its lulls. Namely, BattleCry [official site]. Which, from the looks of the E3 trailer (found below), seems about as generic and uninspiring as its name suggests.

BattleCry Trailer Spouts Blood, Alt-History

I’m pretty sure I knew of BattleCry before today, but its maximo-genericus name got me confused with Warcry, Battlefield and, of course, Game of War: Fire Age. It’s a free-to-player third-person Team Fortress 2-’em-up, replacing the cartoon whimsy of Valve’s game with decapitations and, um, Cossacks. Set in an alternate timeline where a world war at the end of the 19th century put a ban on gunpowder and conflict, it’s about elite teams of soldiers sent into “WarZones” to settle disputes. The imaginatively named BattleCry Studios have just put out the first in-game trailer, which you can see below.

Not A MOBA: Bethesda Announce F2P BattleCry

Murders!

Oh splendid here comes another conventional publisher announcing a new free-to-play game, let’s all look forward to pushing some lanes and levelling up some wizar- hang on. Bethesda’s BattleCry isn’t a Dote ’em up. No, it’s not even a FPS or TBS or RPG or CCG Dote ’em up hybrid. BattleCry’s a melee-focused third-person multiplayer game, with up to 32 stylish soldiers murdering each other. And they are quite stylish, as the art direction is by Dishonored visual designer Viktor Antonov.
