Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! serves up tasty fixes

When Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! [official site] launched last week, it was a little undercooked – enough that the chef at Vertigo Gaming included an in-game pop-up noting that some features would be added over the coming days. Days have come, and so have features. One-man team David Galindo launched two tasty patches over the weekend, serving mashed mouse support upon a crumble of blackened Buzz balancing with a foam of fixes, followed by a cloud of saves with a mousse of icons.

If you fancy frenetic frying in this sequel to a splendid game but were put off by talk of missing and wonky bits, hey, you might fancy a taste now. Read the rest of this entry »

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! released!!!

“Cooking doesn’t get tougher than this,” the nation’s favourite geezer declared on Master Chief, which is proof that he’s never played Cook, Serve, Delicious! Vertigo Gaming’s chef ’em up is delightfully hectic as we run a restaurant and cook the orders, falling into a lightning-fast rhythm as we rattle on hotkeys to cook dishes and the orders stack up and the bins need taking out and oh god social media is somehow part of our job too and flipping great now the health inspector is here. This mayhem now continues with Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! [official site], which launched last night. Read the rest of this entry »

A watched pot etc: Cook Serve Delicious! 2!! delayed!!!

Frantic food ’em up Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! [official site] will not be served to us this month after all. The sequel to 2013’s surprisingly super restaurant management and cooking game was on the menu for August 24th but is now pushed back to September 13th. It needs a little more time on the gamegrill, see. I’d rather eat late than suffer digital salmonella poisoning, especially when the meal looks so appetising. Read the rest of this entry »

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! plating up on August 24th

It’s time to start a strict training routine of fingertip pushups: Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! [official site] is coming. Developers Vertigo Gaming today announced a release date of August 24th for their follow-up to the fun and unexpectedly really, really intense game about cooking in your own little restaurant. They’ve also confirmed that cooperative local multiplayer will return in CSD!2!!, but this time as a fully thought-through mode rather than something added as an experiment. All of this sounds great, aside from the fact that my fingers haven’t recovered from E3 week so I’m already a week behind in my training to build strength and speed for the game’s intense key-tapping. How To Make A Great British Bake Off Game

The latest series of The Great British Bake Off has come to an end, causing those of us hooked by its cream-filled buns, end-of-the-pier puns, and oddly sincere celebration of the human spirit, to feel as empty inside as an incompletely prepared batch of jam donuts. After a few days spent facing a future free from sugar, gluten, and the strange tension between Paul Hollywood and hosts Mel & Sue, I decided to do something about it. I emailed some game designers and asked them a question: if you were charged with making a computer game of The Great British Bake Off, how would you do it?

The answers are below.

Service Please! Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2 Announced

Running a little restaurant may sound like a calming game idea, but Cook, Serve, Delicious! is merciless. Both Pip and Graham have written about the mounting terror as orders stack up, you switch back and forth from station to station, you’re texting your (virtual) partner, food starts to burn, you’re mashing your (physical) keyboard, customers become unhappy, your buzz fades, and oh no everything’s going wrong.

It’ll all get worse in 2016, as developers Vertigo Gaming have announced Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2 [official site].
