Wot I Think: Shadowverse

The crappiest common cards in Shadowverse look better than the best legendary cards in most of the collectible card games I’ve played, so you can imagine what Shadowverse’s legendaries look like. They are stupidly, irresponsibly beautiful. Dragons with uncountable glistening scales, angels clad in impossibly pearlescent metal, musclebound demons flanked by swirling tongues of raven-black flame, to say nothing of all the hunky anime boys and cute anime girls. The legendaries are also stupidly, irresponsibly powerful, which pretty much sums the whole game up. Zone of the Enders 2 HD HD HD gets a comparison trailer & launch month

The Devil May Cry HD updates may have underwhelmed, but there’s one PS2 remaster on the horizon that seems far more likely to please: Hideo Kojima’s well-regarded foray into the realm of giant mecha anime excess, Zone of the Enders 2, which still stands as one of the best takes on the genre, and after a bit of a slip it seems to have a solid release date pinned down.

This particular remaster was announced last year, aiming for a spring 2018 launch. That didn’t quite work out but, according to the comparison trailer released today, it’s still on schedule for launch this year, albeit in September now. If you’ve got a 4k monitor and want a pin-sharp look at the game now, we’ve got the goods waiting within.

Zone of the Enders 2’s mech action coming to PC

A revamped re-release of 2003 mech shooter sequel Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner is coming to PC next year, Konami announced today. Bearing the unwieldy name Anubis Zone of the Enders: Mars [official site], it’ll come remastered with improved prettiness and optional support for VR cybergoggles. Zone of the Enders is a curious series, a pair of short space operas produced by Metal Gear maestro Hideo Kojima and packed with mechs and robots warring across Jupiter’s moons and colonies, and I’m glad it’s finally coming our way.
