Deadlight: Director’s Cut Out June, Survival Mode Deets

I was pretty torn with sidescrolling platformer/survival ‘em up Deadlight when I first played it a few years back. For the most part, I enjoyed its zombie apocalypse narrative, its challenging gauntlet sequences and its wonderfully bleak presentation, however really struggled with certain jarring features – like how the protagonist would instantly drown upon impact in water, or how the screen would go all weird when he was exhausted. Humble Jumbo Bundle 2 Is Great: GalCiv 2, CK2, Terraria…

Who will become the King of Fabulous (13)?

Humble Bundle are always going to be of varying quality – sometimes including only a single quality game with some bonuses, sometimes of no interest whatsoever – but the latest, titled Jumbo Bundle 2, is quite the bargain.

For the low, low price of whatever-the-hell-you’d-like you’ll get space 4X Galactic Civilizations II with its expansions, side-scrolling undead violence-applier Deadlight and isometric action RPG The Incredible Adventures of Ven Helsing. If those words are true, and since I just wrote them on the internet they certainly are, then hell must be on the verge of overflowing. It’s a good thing that not all zombie games are alike, then, with Dead State, DayZ and Project Zomboid all evidence of interesting tales still to be told. Deadlight is a zombie game set in the eighties that looks and plays a bit like Another World. Our chums at Eurogamer had a grand time with the XBLA release and on October 25th it’ll be on Steam, with extra graphics and difficulty. PC people love graphics and difficulty. Peep at the trailer below.
