Steam Winter Sale Recommendations For You

There are thousands and thousands and thousands and oh God help thousands of games discounted in the current Steam Winter sale. Honestly, it’s ridiculous. Where do you start? Where do you end? How many will you ever really play? How many do you have to buy in order to discover the secret Half-Life 3 release date? Well, we can’t help with the more existential aspects of that, but if you’re entirely stuck on what to get, what we can do is tell you which single game each member of the RPS staff would pick from the vast and endless digital discount shelves.

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game recommendations. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time.

Are you willing to gamble £1.99 on a game you might very well loathe? If so, head on over to Steam and buy Deadly Premonition in the sale. It is wonky, it is ugly, it is weird, it is slow, its port is awful, and it is charming, it is exciting, it is weird, it is funny, and it is one of my favourite games.

Late Access: Deadly Premonition’s Troubled PC Release

Today in Games We Were Convinced Would Never Come To PC, it’s lovably clunky survival horror cult classic Deadly Premonition. Access Games’ oddball, divisive Twin Peaks semi-homage has a dedicated, even fervent following on console, but it was a complete surprise when it showed up on Greenlight one day. Now it has completed its walk with fire, and is available on Steam right now. Sadly, it seems to be a HORROR-PORT, so rife with issues that the dev’s offered public apologies for it. Modders, fortunately, have been to the rescue already.
