Exo One is a brilliant, desolate 3D Tiny Wings

Exo One

One of my favourite finds at Rezzed was Exo One [official site] – a momentum-based planetary exploration game. You roll and fly across desolate spacescapes flipping form between a ball and a frisbee. The enjoyment comes from using the terrain and the controls in just the right way to go full speed. The best way I can think to describe it is like a 3D version of the mobile game, Tiny Wings. Total War: Warhammer 2 announced

With their business in The Old World concluded, The Creative Assembly have announced Total War: Warhammer II [official site] during EGX Rezzed. The strategy sequel is off to visit the Lizardmen, High Elves, Dark Elves, and another faction being kept secret for now. Interestingly, it’ll introduce the risk of enemies beating you not just into the ground but to the final goal too. Get a look at the coming rumble and one delighted froglord (that’s Mazdamundi ↑ up there) in this here announcement trailer: Read the rest of this entry »

Texts from Rezzed, Day 2

Day 2 of EGX Rezzed 2017 is underway in That London, where Tobacco Dock [nb: I’ve discovered it does have a boat but still neither boat trips nor fags -ed.] is filled with games, talks, and lights for three days. We’re Rezzed’s official “media partner” so we’ve dispatched Pip, Adam, Graham, and a poorly Alec to poke around, host some talks, interview some developers, and look proud of our ‘Cave of Wonders’ showcase. To slack off, in other words.

Tonight they’re going to the pub ‘on official RPS business’ and you’re invited. I’m not, but you are. So to ensure they continue generating content while swanning about, I’m making them send me updates throughout their day. Read the rest of this entry »

EGX Rezzed 2017 is now underway in That London, filling Tobacco Dock [nb: offers neither boat trips nor fags -ed.] with games, talks, and lights for three days. We’re Rezzed’s official “media partner” so we’ve dispatched Pip, Adam, and Graham (and, soon, Alec) to poke around, host some talks, interview some developers, look proud of our ‘Cave of Wonders’ showcase, cast a live pod, and go to the pub on official RPS business. To slack off, in other words. To ensure they continue generating content while on this holiday, I’m making them send me updates throughout their day. Read the rest of this entry »

DayZ creator announces space station sim Stationeers

DayZ creator Dean Hall has announced Stationeers, a game about constructing and operating a space station on your tod or with chums. No, don’t confuse this with Ion, his effectively-cancelled space sim. Stationeers promises complex simulation of station workings, and it’s encouraging that Hall cites the phenomenal (and phenomenally complex) Space Station 13 as an influence. It’s due to hit early access “soon” but is playable at EGX Rezzed so I assume some of the RPS rabble we sent to That London will swing by for a bash at some point. Read the rest of this entry »

Everything in the RPS Cave of Wonders at Rezzed

Everything

This is a post with a very clever title! The last game featured in our RPS Cave of Wonders at Rezzed this week is Everything, David OReilly’s gorgeous interactive nature simulation where you can skip up or down in scale to make discoveries and roam an entire universe. BUT! It’s also a good point to remind you of everything that will be joining Everything in the cave, so read on for, well, Everything and everything: Read the rest of this entry »
