Farming Simulator 17 harvests Platinum expansion

I wish farming simulators could be an odd chillout experience for me similar to what Alec finds in American Truck Simulator, but sadly their repetition requires a different type of attention that I just can’t relax under. However, I do still admire them – and some of the pretty places they go. Farming Simulator 17 is off to South America today in its first big expansion, farming red soil under a bright sun. Farming Simulator 17 off to South America in expansion

The thrills, chills, and slurry spills of Farming Simulator 17 [official site] are off to South America in an expansion this November, publishers Focus Home Interactive have announced. The ‘Platinum’ expansion will add a new farm set in an unnamed pretty South American country, where sugar cane is a new crop to harvest. Supposedly that terror ↑ up there is a machine made to harvest sugar cane but I’ll not give that man-mulching deathbot a chance to catch me. Read the rest of this entry »

Farming Simulator 17 DLC adds mega-big tractor Big Bud

A vehicle I’m told is “the world’s largest farm tractor” has arrived in Farming Simulator 17 [official site] as paid DLC. The Big Bud 747! Four metres high! Eight metres long! 960 horsepower! When fully fuelled and loaded, it weighs the equivalent of 61,234 one-kilogram bags of sugar. It is a big tractor. But while I’m told that the Big Bud is a big tractor, you can’t tell me that Big Bud isn’t the name of a covers band who love to rock on AC/DC, Led Zep, and Skynyrd. In fact, all the other brands and products in this DLC sound like bands. Let’s go over them once I’ve explained this DLC. Read the rest of this entry »

Farming Simulator 17 is the world’s #1 farm simulator

If you’re a fan of virtual farming, then chances are you’re one of the over one million players that have bought a copy of Farm Simulator 17 [official site]. Giants Software and Focus Home Interactive say that the launch sales of one million units in its first month is almost twice the sales of the previous installment at launch. Steam Charts: Now That’s What I Call PC Gaming

An altogether healthier chart than we’ve had over the last few weeks, even if the usual ghosts continue to haunt it. That was a spooky halloween reference. It’s probably still Halloween in Tazmania or something. Even if it’s not, there’s definitely a hungover guy in a vomit-smeared David S. Pumpkins costume shambling down a street somewhere. Meticulous Experimentation In Farming Simulator 17

After a worrying absence of a 2016 edition, Farming Simulator 17 [official site] is back to simulate all your rural needs. And who better qualified to tell you all about it than I, John “Farmer” Walker, management game expert and lover of all things agricultural?!

Sow Your Seeds: Farming Simulator 17 Released

I do like that PC gaming now has a spectrum of imaginary farming from Stardew Valley to Farming Simulator 17 [official site]. If have lazy daydreams about a magical new life in the country as a farmer/explorer/lover, look to Stardew. If names like Massey Fergy send a chill down your spine and you dream of ploughing perfect furrows, yeah, it’s Farm Sim for you. The latest version launched last night, bringing more simulated agriculture with ploughing, planting, harvesting, transporting, and dicking about racing harvesters through town with your pals in multiplayer. Farming Simulator 17 Introducing Female Farmers

Farming Simulator 17 [official site] brings a new setting, new vehicles, livestock, crops, and mechanics. Oh, and you’ll finally be able to play as a female farmer at long last.

Players will be able to choose between male and female avatars when creating their character. When it’s time to expand your farm, you’ll get to hire both men and women to help you tend the fields, too. As an added bonus, you’ll also have the option to customize your character’s clothing, so you can be fashionable while driving your tractor around the farm, dodging cows and harvesting corn and such.

Farming Simulator 17 Sells A Dream

The news is unbearable; I don’t want to look at or even think about anything involving shooting people today. Combing through the wreckage of E3, I stumble across a CGI trailer for Farming Simulator 17 [official site]: a tranquil, unspoilt, not-actual-footage world of fields and ploughs and big blue skies, and it’s like a window into a better world that isn’t filled with horror.

The Moos (The News): Farming Simulator 17 Announced

Will we, in years to come, be asking “How would you revamp Farming Simulator?” Will we wonder if it’s time Farming Simulator took a few years off from annual sequels to rethink what about virtual farming excited people so? Will we dream of an Ancient Egyptian reboot, tilling the soils of the Nile Delta? Or will you, wide-eyed, propose a slaughterhouse with PhysX Flex blood and a knife-sharpening minigame? Do you want a wee organic farm with no machinery, just a workforce of gapyearers?

I ask because developers Giants Software have announced Farming Simulator 17 [official site], coming “at the end of 2016.”
