This tiny man in Minit is my fave character of 2018 so far

Minit gives you sixty seconds to achieve great things. As soon as you wake, in whichever place you’re currently calling home, a timer begins to countdown and when a minute has expired, you die and restart. In that time, you might find a useful item, which will be close at hand in the next life, or you might discover a new area and start to formulate a plan for exploration and infiltration a few lives down the line.

It was during my second life that I found the lighthouse. By the lighthouse, an old man stands, crooked of spine. He tells you everything you need to know about Minit’s wit and central conceit, and he does that with nothing more than a text box and a very clever monologue.

Wot I Think: Minit

Minit is that most rare of joyful things: A really good idea, done really well.

In Minit you play a little bird-like pixel character who lives in a black and white pixel world, and is cursed with only ever living for a single minute. Succulents: A Tiny Game About Underground Gardens

You know how we feel about succulents here at RPS. If you don’t the TL;DR version is “fond” and so OBVIOUSLY we played Succulents [Itch.io link], a free game about tending to plants in an abandoned underground conservatory.

It’s a tiny thing but delightful. I’ve been using “delightful” a lot recently but that’s more because there has been a lot which has delighted me than the fact I can’t find my thesaurus. My delightful thesaurus.

Monstrous Wandering: Life On A Mountain

It's a wonderful life.

Funny, I don’t remember all these mountains being here before. Yes, here at RPS we certainly did enjoy playing with our Mountains but now, mere weeks later, here comes another one. Looming behind us. Creeping up. Coming out of nowhere. A sneak peak.

Jukio Kallio has given a sneak peek at Life On A Mountain, a game “about breathing the fresh air of the mountain and thinking about all the secrets it might hide.” Given that he’s behind the pumping soundtracks for Luftrausers and Nuclear Throne under the name Kozilek, it’s looking surprisingly sedate. And quite splendid too.
