Behind C&C’s Iron Curtain

I'm faintly surprised to discover that the recent Command & Conquer 3 expansion, Kane's Wrath, was not developed by the folks behind the love-it-or-meh-it parent game. KW was definitely a lesser product than its surprisingly splendid daddy, most especially in its humdrum campaign, plus I hear it was fairly heavy on bugs and imbalances (the latter being the reddest of rags to RTS Angries). The Staring Eyes of Natasha Henstridge

Which is my way of distracting you from the fact we're linking to a lot of stuff we've written elsewhere today. This time it's Alec's review of Kane's Wrath which PC Gamer have put on their electro-net-commuicato-think masters C&VG. In it he says things like... oh, go and read it. Now... I've reviewed it. The interesting part for us, however, is that Mass Effect, Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath, Spore, Boom Blox (Spielberg's Wii thing), and Dead Space will be playable at the event. Man, there's going to be a fight over that Spore booth.…

Kane’s Wrath Trailer

Look, I'm out of my depth here, but are people really buying the Command & Conquer 3 add-on because they're desperate to know what happens next in the cheesy-fun-time soapy story? Surely the appeal is the old-school strategy, while the FMV sequences provide dumbo morsels of entertainment between the reason for playing? I guess I'm wrong, as EA are choosing to market Kane's Wrath like…
