Killer Instinct punches onto Steam and Windows 7

Monstrous pugilists including aliens, cyborgs, a mummy, a velociraptor, and a bona fide Battle Toad throw down in Killer Instinct [official site], a revival of the ’90s fighting game series. It first hit PC last year but was exclusive to Windows 10 and its store, which is always a bit of a downer. Now folks who use Windows 7 or prefer Steam can now join in the brawl, as Killer Instinct has swapped its old shackles for a set with a longer chain. Read the rest of this entry »

Killer Instinct Has Arrived On PC, ‘Part Roguelike’ Solo Mode Coming Soon

Killer Instinct [official site], which originally appeared as an Xbox One launch title, has arrived on PC. It’s in the Windows Store and is free-to-play but will only work if your PC is running Windows 10. Any purchases you’ve made on the Xbox version will carry across if you download the game on PC – those purchases are mainly characters, only one of the roster being available for free each month – and you can play against people on both platforms.

The PC launch coincides with the beginning of the game’s third season, which will bring a total of eight new characters (4 now, 4 later) and a big singleplayer mode, with crafting and recruiting as well as punching.

The Windows 10 release (yes, in the Windows Store) will come alongside the launch of Killer Instinct’s Season 3 expansion, which adds more characters to the wacky lineup.

Gears Of War Remake & Killer Instinct Coming Soon-ish

Remember when Windows 10 was coming up and Microsoft were all excited about PC gaming again and announced they were bringing the Gears of War remake and new Killer Instinct to PC? And how they didn’t have much to say about the ports then in June, and haven’t had much more to say about them since? Oh Ian Microsoft, you and your fickle love! Love us, Ian. Why don’t you love us? Ian, please. But wait! One of Ian’s mates has now said we should probably expect them early-ish in 2016.

Killer Instinct On Win 10 With Cross-Platform Multiplayer

’90s fighting game Killer Instinct [official site] returned on Xbox One in 2013, through (I imagine) some combination of nostalgia and Microsoft wanting a fighting game series then realising they owned one through Rare. Now the monsters ‘n’ magic men punch ’em up revival is headed towards PC for Windows 10.

“We don’t have any more to share at this time” said the terse announcement tweet. Okay then. A member of the dev team separately confirmed it’ll support cross-platform multiplayer. No one says whether it’ll be free-to-play, like it is on Xbox One, but I’d imagine so.
