MechWarrior: Living Legends Revived By Players

Titanfall 2 is smashing for zip-zap-zippy-zoopy mech action but what if you fancy your deathbots more serious, more simmy? Good news: MechWarrior: Living Legends is back. Creators Wandering Samurai Studios officially stopped working on the free game in 2013 but a group of players have since picked it up, and last week released their first new version. Their MWLL Community Edition v0.8 mostly fixes and tweaks things — a lot of things — but the team plan to add new content in future updates. It’s free so hey, come on down and get stompy. Mechwarrior Wars: Living Legends Is Less Living

There’s a downside to the official comeback of iconic stompy robo-suit game Mechwarrior, and that’s the end of ongoing development for fancy-lookin’ Crysis mod Mechwarrior: Living Legends. While initial word that this free multiplayer total conversion was facing its last stomp led the community to suspect legal action by the people behind the new official game, Mechwarrior Online, the claim now is that MLL development is winding up through mutual agreement.

Cry Me A Robot


The MechWarrior: Living Legends mod popped a few times in comments over the break, and it has been landing in my inbox from various people, too. I can see why there’s excitement. It’s a Crysis mod based on the Mechwarrior universe, the beta for which is now underway. That means, well, robots piloted by men, with lasers, and missiles. You know the sort of thing. You can grab the most recent version of the mod over at the Moddb page, but you’ll need Crysis to play, obviously. Judging by the beta footage (posted below) this is look very promising indeed.
