Super Mega Baseball 2 delayed into 2018

Oh no. Our Adam is on holiday this week, which means he won’t see today’s news that Super Mega Baseball 2 [official site] has been delayed. Which means that, rather than an e-mail from the developers, it’ll likely be this post breaking that news to him. It’s me telling him that the sequel to the ballbaser he quite likes won’t come in September, and he’ll have to wait until spring 2018. Which I have just done. Sorry, future Adam. Super Mega Baseball 2 shows off more-realistic art style

Pretty much everyone I mention my love of baseball to in the UK says “but it’s just rounders with bigger bats!”, which is a bit like saying football is just a giant game of balloon keepie uppie.

We’re not exactly overrun with good baseball games on PC, but Super Mega Baseball is about the best. It’s a cartoon representation of America’s pastime with a surprisingly complex physics system, satisfying mechanics, and addictive gameplay that keeps me coming back for one more swing.

So I’m super mega excited for the sequel, Super Mega Baseball 2 [official site], which has just got a new video detailing a more-realistic art style as well as a release window of September.

Suhwing, Batter: Super Mega Baseball 2 Announced

Super Mega Baseball 2 [official site] is sliding our way in 2017, developers Metalhead Software have announced. Adam had brief but positive words to say about the first game, so good! More baseball is good. Don’t be misled off by that cartoony art style, mind – it’s not quite as arcadey as it looks. The big addition to the sequel is a good’un: online multiplayer.

Major League: Super Mega Baseball – Extra Innings

There are two great baseball series in the world. The PC is home to the brilliantly in-depth management simulation Out of the Park, which features the actual state of play in several countries worldwide as well as endless customisable fictional leagues. Then there’s the Playstation exclusive MLB: The Show series, which I’m tempted to refer to as the FIFA of baseball games until I remind myself how much richer than FIFA the experience has been in recent years (disclaimer: I haven’t played the 2015 version).

If you don’t have a Sonybox and fancy some hands-on slugging rather than the number-crunching management of OOTP, recently released Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings [official site] should scratch that particular (p)itch.
