Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time.

The Heroes of Might and Magic games were among my favourites growing up, with their big operatic scores and lovely turn-based strategising. They’re very simple things but beautifully presented and much calmer than their genre stablemates. Clash of Heroes [Steam page] is similarly pretty and calm. It lacks the kingdom management of HOMM but has a much more interesting combat system.

Match 3 Elves: Might & Magic Clash Of Heroes

Nodes! Why did it have to be nodes?

The confusingly title-inverted Might and Magic Heroes VI will be with us very soon – I have review code right here, in fact – but also and already added to the endless and deathless M&M ranks is Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes, a resolution-embiggened port of the turn-based strategy/RPG/match 3 oddity that first showed up on Nintendo’s DS pocket-toy. It’s on sale now, and there’s also a demo. I took some crazed/amazed/irritated/bemused notes as I played through the demo (not the full game, which I can’t speak for), which I’ve now removed all (or most, anyway) of the grammatical abuse and typos from for you below.

Might & Magic Double-Whammy

I wish I knew what they were all looking at.

Here’s a Might & Magic two-news-stories-for-one for you. Below we have the latest trailer for Might IV Heroes Of & Magic or whatever it’s called this time. But then there’s a surprise – the formerly console-only Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes is now making its way to PC next month. There are details about that below as well.
