Fight, Drink, Die, Repeat: Wasted

Wasted [official site] is “a roguelike post-apocalyptic pub crawler”, which instantly places it high on the list of things I’d like to play. And play it I did, right before heading out to E3 last week. I haven’t spent enough time to deliver a full judgement but it’s a game worth placing a spotlight on, with some smart progression mechanics and a Fallout meets Adult Swim sense of humour. It was indeed published by Adult Swim’s gaming arm and has been receiving regular rounds of boozy updates since release.

Hic! Oh hello there. Hic! I’ve been playing this excellent free stealth game ‘Merry Gear Solid: Secret Santa’ [official site] from 2006 and I don’t understand anything in it. Alice tells me that it’s about ‘Solid Snake’ but this seems like a joke name she made up.

Wasted: A First-Person Post-Apocalyptic Pub Crawler

The Mystery Of Dungeon

Oh you bastards

Confession time! I have never played a game by mad-brained indie wunderkind Jonathan ‘Cactus’ Söderström before. No idea why – despite Jim regularly giving his games an approving nod, in that stern, stoic Jim Rossignol way of his, I’ve managed to miss every single one. Dungeon, his collaboration with one Arthur ‘Mr. podunkian’ Lee (what is it with these names? I’ve gotta get me one. Call me Alec ‘Windows Sound Recorder’ Meer from now on, if you will), rather confirms my opinions from afar – that the chap is making splendid but oddball independent videogames that will please anyone who doesn’t scream “pretentious!” the second they’re faced with something even slightly artistically-minded. Not that Dungeon is necessarily artistically-minded – it has another agenda…
