Turn Back The Clock Tower: NightCry Released

Herbert The Doll had eaten too many Easter Eggs and felt sad and bloated

NightCry [official site], which arrived on PC yesterday, is a spiritual sequel to the Clock Tower games, created by a team with original series creator Kono Hifumi at its head. Although it looks like a 3d survival horror game, it apparently hews closer to Clock Tower’s point and click origins rather than the slightly more action-heavy Clock Tower 3 and Haunting Ground. Reviews on Steam are ‘mixed’ at the moment but I’d like to investigate for myself.

Point ‘N’ Click ‘N’ Scream: NightCry Due This Spring

You can get lost for hours, if you start digging for information and material around NightCry.┬áIt’s an horror game developed by Nude Maker, a Japanese all-star team led by Clock Tower creator Kono Hifumi, and it’s now lined up to launch this spring. We’ve not posted about NightCry since its 2015 Kickstarter to fund a PC version of what would have otherwise remained a mobile-only game, so let’s see how it’s looking.

Clocktower Successor Clocking On To PC: Night Cry

Did you know that every time you hid in a closet while you were playing Alien: Isolation or Amnesia, you were doing a little homage to Clock Tower? Sure, you might have been doing a little whimper or wee at the same time, but the act of hiding instead of hunting and killing is SO Clock Tower.

Sure, Clock Tower may not have been the first game to do hiding in a closet* but it’s a Running Away game with a long shadow and some folks of the PC persuasion may not be familiar with it. That may be about to change.
