HEVN is a place off-Earth in this immersive sim

I spend a lot of my time wandering around space stations and off-world colonies. They’re usually deserted, save for some infected former-people or an AI with some disturbing ideas about just what it should do with that sentience it found between the sofa cushions of its code. This year, I particularly enjoyed Event[0]‘s unusual take on that familiar scenario, but next year we might be returning to some frights and fights immersive sim-like normality. System Shock Meets Open World Survival: P.A.M.E.L.A.

P.A.M.E.L.A. [official site] was one of the most exciting games I saw at GDC last week. I watched around twenty minutes of live play, showing off the construction of a safe haven as night fell on the beautifully rendered sci-fi city in which the game’s particular brand of survival horror takes place. It’s an open world game, but it isn’t quite like anything else in the genre. This is a claustrophobic open world and the game in question is an intelligent and bold exploration of the core concepts found in System Shock and Bioshock. Hell, if this were carrying the title System Shock 3, I’d be delighted.

P.A.M.E.L.A. Gets G.R.E.E.N.L.I.T. 48 Hours After Launch

P.A.M.E.L.A. [official site], the upcoming sci-fi survival horror FPS from Canadian studio NVYVE, has been Greenlit after reaching the number one spot just two days after launching on Steam Greenlight. When we last visited P.A.M.E.L.A. earlier this year, information was thin on the ground. A whole lot more has been dropped since, including a trailer, and it looks equally as pretty as it does terrifying. Take a peek:
