Pathologic 2 has you protect both health and reputation

Pathologic 2

I await Ice-Pick Lodge’s alternate-earth plague survival adventure Pathologic 2 with equal parts excitement and dread. The original, for all its technical (and translation-related) flaws was a systems-rich game where you juggled allegiances as much as personal stats and resources. In their latest development blog post, Ice-Pick Lodge detail some of the interesting new systems that you’ll have to worry about, on top of everything the cult favourite demanded of you.

Pathologic remake confusingly renamed Pathologic 2 ‘to avoid confusion’

Ice Pick Lodge’s remake of Pathologic, their wonderfully unpleasant 2005 horror, has picked up a publisher and a confusing new name. The crowdfunded full remake is now named Pathologic 2 [official site], though it definitely is not a sequel. New publishers Tinybuild say that the name is, somehow, “to avoid confusion”. Right-o. Accompanying today’s weird news is a gameplay vidblast showing sickness, autopsy, and purification in the diseased and dying town. Observe: Read the rest of this entry »

(Click on the pics to see the new screens all bigger.)

Surprise Remaster Pathologic Classic HD Dated

Just a quick one to start your day: in case you’ve been wondering when the surprise release of the partially remastered ‘Classic HD‘ version of notorious first-person survival game Pathologic [official site] will be, I can now answer that for you. This is not, just to clear up understandable confusion, the recently Kickstarted remake of Ice Pick Lodge’s wildly ambitious but somewhat rickety psychological oddyssey, but rather a spit’n’polished version of the original. Arguably more important than the improved graphics are the new translation and voice-acting, which for many of us was the greatest barrier to entry.

Pathologic Classic HD “Remasters” The Original

This is slightly strange. Pathologic is one of our favourite RPGs, but the original release wasn’t without its flaws. That’s why it’s exciting that original developers Ice-Pick Lodge are working on a ground-up remake, which they Kickstarted last year. But there’s also now Pathologic Classic HD, a remaster rather than a remake, which polishes the existing game with a new translation, new voice acting and updated graphics. Find the trailer below.
