Perception adds new difficulty modes, extra dialogue

perception

A post about Perception? Today? A spooky game? On November 1st? When the pumpkins are already rotting on the doorstep? Hey buddy, to me every day is Halloween. And I am always interested in exploring a haunted house as a blind woman blessed with magical echolocation powers. While Perception didn’t quite come together, as Adam said in his review developers The Deep End Games have returned to overhaul and revamp it a little. They’ve launched an update adding new difficulty modes — both easier and more difficult — while expanding the story a little and improving performance. Read the rest of this entry »

Altogether ooky: echolocation horror Perception is out

Perception [official site], the horror game exploring the history of a spooky house through the ears of a blind woman with magical Daredevil echolocation, is now out. Our Adam already told us all Wot He Thinks of it last week, which is that it doesn’t quite come together, but now you can actually buy and play it yourself and form your own opinions then, as appropriate, tell Adam to: 1) cram it; 2) keep on keeping on; or 3) you know, whatever. We’ll get to explore an abandoned mansion, investigating something spooky which has lurked for generations, by making noises which send out soundwaves we can magically convert to eerie images. Oh, and of course the horrors haunting the mansion are attracted to sound. Great. Good. Lovely. See in this trailer: Read the rest of this entry »

The new gameplay trailer comes just a few days before the end of the Kickstarter, with 10% of the goal amount still to be obtained. In the video we get to see more ghostly goings on, plus an indication that hearing may not always be believing.

Perception: Former Irrational Folks Crowdfunding Horror

You’ll play a blind girl called Cassie who must use echolocation to explore a haunted mansion in Perception, a first-person horror game just launched on Kickstarter by former Irrational members. It looks to be a refreshing take on the scary house trope, with noise ‘illuminating’ areas so that you can ‘see’. Cassie’s ability to detect her surroundings are not dissimilar to those of Marvel’s Daredevil, except it’s unlikely that she will be flipping out and beating people with sticks. Probably.
