Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Gets Timed Trial

“All flesh is grass,” goes the popular saying (listen for teens chanting it as they skip to school). The conflict of Plants vs. Zombies revolves around this sentiment (look for it stenciled on alley walls), and it’s tragic. Plants are irate that zombies won’t let them sink their roots into their festering flesh for nourishment. Zombies believe plants are denying their role in this cycle, and want to devour plants so seeds will sprout in their rich guts and burst forth splitting their ribs like mouldering sepals.

Where do you stand on this complex issue? You can now explore it for free for ten hours in a timed trial for Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 [official site].

Garden Warfare 2 Is Still A Thing, Gets Free Update

Ever since Plants vs. Zombies turned into a multiplayer shooter in Garden Warfare, I somehow manage to forget that it’s a thing that exists in the world. I guess that my subconscious is trying to protect me from the idea of EA taking a cute and quirky franchise and turning it into a multiplayer shooter filled with references to other EA franchises. That does sound like the perfect recipe for a trainwreck, doesn’t it? And yet, if you ask someone who has actually played it, they’ll likely tell you it’s not a trainwreck at all. Some people actually think it’s fun. Go figure.

Multiplayer shooter Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 [official site] is not the game I’d want next from PopCap’s (former?) tower defense series, but a fair few folks popped up in the comments to say they dug Garden Warfare when John griped about the shift. So hey! For folks who want more, or those who fancy pelting zombies with fruit, here’s news: Garden Warfare 2 will launch in Europe on February 25th, Electronic Arts have announced (two days after its US release, because that ocean really slows downloads you know).

Oh: Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 Announced

What I’d wanted next from Plants vs. Zombies was a tower defence sequel not all guffed up with mobile microtransaction-y stuff. What EA gave us was a third-person multiplayer shooter, Garden Warfare. I’m sure they thought they knew something we didn’t. They still do, as EA today announced Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 [official site].

The sequel will take the action to suburbia, bringing new characters and weapons and whatnot. And an orange who doesn’t seem at all perturbed that he’s partially flayed.
