What are we all playing this weekend?

June is bustin’ out all over, wrote Rodgers and Hammerstein, and bustin’ makes me feel good. If summer could hold out just a little longer and last the weekend, ooh that’d be grand. And if it doesn’t, hey, we can shelter indoors playing video games.

Goodness me, that’s the end of E3. For me, at least. Our Adam has been out in Los Angeles (he hopped off the plane at LAX with a dream and his cardigan) and will have so very much to tell us about all he saw if he ever escapes the maze of the convention center. But the rest of us, we can stop looking so much at games that aren’t out and get back to ones which are.

E3 is upon us! The huge trade show doesn’t officially begin until Tuesday but a lot of the big and exciting stuff will happen this weekend in livestreamed pre-show presentation. It’s a game-o-rama. Our Adam is out there in Los Angeles and we’ll be covering things from afar too.

Britain has a holiday on Monday so we’ll be back in full force on Tuesday, though we will trickle some odds and ends your way over the long weekend. And what a weekend it looks to be! Some might say discussing the weather is trite but mate, if you’re not excited by the unofficial start of the British summer giving us glorious sunshine transitioning into storms, I don’t want to talk to you.

Bruce Foxton’s War In The West is rising in the east and, as Gary Gilmore’s Eyes Over Azerbaijan begins to blink, the telegraph taps out this week’s missive from HQ. Roman, as ever, is lurking in the wardrobe with a wicked smile. Wait. Hang on. The cheek of it!

I have come to a conclusion regarding weekends. They are clearly not times when everyone is off work and gets to lark about and play games as they please, right? And it sucks to have people talk about how great the weekend is when you yourself are working, yes? So: if you don’t work weekends, any time to talk up weekends to people who are themselves working, they may demand that you sing Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 right there and then. I couldn’t rightly explain why but that seems fair.
