RPS Electronic Wireless Show E3 Special

VISUAL IMAGE! Design me a better one, please.

Blimey, here’s a surprise. Dusting off our podcasting tools, John and special guest Dan Griliopoulos gather in a noisy restaurant to discuss what they’ve seen at E3 so far. Not only do you get to hear about Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Tomb Raider, Hitman, Deus Ex, Serious Sam 3, Payday, Torchlight 2, Saints Row: The Third, DUST 514, Dead Island, Batman: Arkham City, and many more, but also find out what they order, and then hear how long it takes to arrive! Hear the conversations of the neighbouring tables. Hear when Dan drops a knife on the dictaphone. Never hear anything else again.

World of Love: The RPS Panel (& Podcast)

It looks so civilized! It wasn't.

At the recent A Winter World of Love indie developer conference in London, RPS was kindly invited by event organisers Mudlark to host a panel. We thought long and hard about the many fascinating and complex issues surrounding and facing independent games, and before too long it was entirely clear what our panel should focus on.

Winkies, of course.

RPS Electronic Wireless Show Episode 47

logo logo LOGO!

Goodness and crikey, Jim and John have recorded an RPS Electronic Wireless Show. As mentioned was in Revelation (22.4: And they shall talk rubbish and creak their chairs until Babylon rises and falls).

We’re not the sort to let themes trouble us, and as such the discussion covers dreaming, Keith Olbermann, and fancy dress costumes. There’s also an exclusive competition to win a rare prize!

The RPS Electronic Wireless Show 46: Angry!

Well, Rage-y. id Software’s Tim Willits faces a panel of RPS readers (the same ones who fired teeny quiz missiles at Splash Damage’s Ed Stern last week) to talk Rage.

And only Rage. Honestly, when I set this up I presumed those guys would want to ask a bunch of stuff about Doom and Quake and Wolfenstein and Commander Keen. But nooooooooooooooo, they only wanted to know about the shiny new thing. FINE. You know what? FINE.

The RPS Electronic Wireless Show 44

It’s Christmas in September! During the RPS summit yesterday the lot of us somehow found time in our packed schedule of shouting and dueling to do a podcast, making this the first RPS Electronic Wireless Show to feature five whole RPS writers. Hopefully hearing all five of us speak at the same time will finally dispel the rumours that John Walker is a character created and voiced by Kieron, Kieron is nothing but a fiction written by Alec Meer, and that I am a figment of John’s imagination. Download the podcast here, subscribe to it via RSS here, or get it on iTunes from here, abstractly, except it’s still not updating for no discernible reason. You can manually add the RSS feed to Itunes though, which works perfectly. Meticulous timetabling of our conversation follows…

From The Bunker: The Bethesda/id Podcast

They’ve missed a trick not calling this Galaxy News Radio and lobbing in Three Dog soundbytes, frankly. This 22 minute chat, hopefully the first of many, features Bethesda’s king Todd Howard and id’s creative boss Tim Willits chatting about game design, QuakeCon and regrettable moustaches. It’s… well, it’s not exactly ripe with zingers and can be a bit of a tough listen, but I’m very glad it exists.

The RPS Electronic Wireless Show 42

Don’t call it a comeback. Okay, do. With Quinns’ recent move to London, Kieron and he decided to gather in an office and mumble at one another. And then record it. And then share it. You can download it directly from here, subscribe to it by RSS with this, or get it on iTunes from here. And breakdown of what we cover follows…

Microphoney: RPS Invades EG Podcast

It’s not really an RPS podcast. Sorry. It’s just me on someone else’s podcast. Sneaky little tyke that I am. My mouth-hole was recruited to accompany Eurogamer editor Tom ‘Tom Bramwell’ Bramwell, their writer Dan Pearson and Ignition producer Jamie Firth in a chat about topics including Dragon Age 2, Blizzard’s real name silliness, War For Cybertron, whether that OnLive stuff is a threat to the PC and whether blockbuster games are allowed more than three As.

I make jokes, mutter and find myself frustratingly forbidden from discussing the preview build of CIv V I’m currently playing. I also make a probably unwise gag about the Iraq war at one point, though they may well have sensibly cut that.

Can it really have been so long? It seems so. It’s episode 41! Jim and John gather once more to discuss matters of gaming, philosophy, and quite how tired everyone is. We’re all so tired. Enjoy John’s croaky voice, Jim’s pretty hair, and thoughts on shooters, Macs and the lack of gossiping murderer-based games. Plus bonus exclusive interview with Zombie Cow!

Alec! Kieron! An oddly alien-robot Quinns! We gathered on the Internet last week. Mr Hockel had a prod at it to improve its quality over the weekend. AND NOW WE PRESENT THE RESULTS! You can download it directly from here, subscribe to it by RSS with this, or get it on iTunes from here. Contents include! DRM, Bioshock 2 and other stuff! And a full list of everything follows. Hurrah!

The RPS Electronic Wireless Show 38

Anyone who reads alt-text fancy creating us a new logo?

Jim and John gathered together aboard the RPS yacht to put right all that is wrong with everything that’s ever happened in the universe. Eschewing tweets in episode 38, instead we spoke about the contents of our head, from Mass Effect 2 and dreams of a different BioShock, to DRM and the peculiarities of mining in MMOs.

Anyone who reads alt-text fancy creating us a new logo?

Jim and John had stretched the elastic that joins them as far as it would reach, causing them to be flung back together, landing in front of a microphone. So a podcast was recorded. It’s another Twitter-driven special, after last time’s monster-stomach-set Twitter isolation. Discussed are matters of Neptune’s Pride, procedural worlds, game pricing and gamepads.

The RPS Electronic Wireless Show 36

Hullo. So I burped, and there was this podcast. It appears John and Jim were lucky enough to have been holding onto their recording equipment when I ate them. Kieron and Alec were off on some expedition through my duodenum at the time, so I understand. With the new year here they seem to have focused on reflecting on 2009, and looking forward to 2010. As well as their meandering.

There is yabber in the world again. A week or so back, Quinns and I got together and did a podcast. It’s now available. We did over Skype, however, so while Kieron’s new mic was being in oddly good form, Quinns’ was a bit off. We decided to take up the offer of one of the people who’ve said they’d do some processing for us. Mr Hockel had a tweak, and we praise him with choirs of Ursine-Angels. It sounds splendid to me, generally, with the bigger problem more Quinns leaning back too often. And me too, for that matter. Man, our mic technique is rubbish. Anyway – you can get it directly from here, subscribe via RSS here or Itunes here. And for a break down of what we talk about, please find below…

Imagine if we had a better podcast logo than this one. YOU CAN'T, CAN YOU?

NO YOUR EYES DO NOT DECEIVE YOU. The Rock Paper Shotgun Electronic Wireless Show returns, and in triumphant fashion. (If you understand “triumphant” to mean, “two men with coughs chatting for 45 minutes”.) Led by the guiding hands of your tweeted remarks it’s the only discussion of PC gaming you’ll ever need! (Only as part of a PC gaming discussion controlled diet.)

RPS Electronic Wireless Show L4D2 Special

It's special.

While wandering the long, barren corridors of Valve HQ I stumbled upon Chet Faliszek and Erik Wolpaw, the two men who a few years ago made up the members of Old Man Murray. Bundling both of them into a big sack I carried them into a room packed with buzzing PCs and forced them to join in on a podcast to discuss the release of Left 4 Dead 2. You can listen to the results below.
