This Minecraft map packs a full new Pokémon game

Yeah, you see a lot of these kids around these days, telling everyone they’re Pokémon Masters. Poképosers, I call ’em. A true Pokémon Master dedicates their entire life to defeating and capturing every last Pokémon. Not just in one game, nor the core games, nor even all the official games. A true Pokémon Master masters every last fan game and mod too, from Pokémon Doom to, now, Pokémon Cobalt and Amethyst [official site]. Launched over the weekend, it recreates a full singleplayer Pokémon game inside vanilla Minecraft, complete with capturing, battling, an annoying rival – the lot. Read the rest of this entry »

The RPG Scrollbars: In The Cards

These days, you’re just not a proper RPG unless you’ve got a fancy card-game spin-off either in or out of world. Gwent. Hearthstone. Arcomage. Triple Triad. Legends of Norrath. Pokemon CCG. Now The Elder Scrolls is throwing its adventurer’s cap into the ring with The Elder Scrolls: Legends, as announced aeons ago, but only just going into closed beta. Quite a gold-rush, especially given that historically, these games haven’t done particularly well in digital form, even when backed by a big name or license.

Tembo The Badass Elephant…

but is he African or Asian?

…is a terrible name for a videogame. So terrible that the game would surely be roundly ignored were it not for who’s making it. That who is Game Freak, the studio who lead development on Nintendo’s deathless Pokemon titles. For Tembo, they’re working with SEGA, which probably would have been considered some sort of scandal ten years ago but today just seems like wisely not putting too many eggs in one Pokeball.

Tembo is badass because he smashes a load of stuff, including tanks and skyscrapers. Also he wears a bandanna.
