Call Of Duty Online Is More Call Of Duty Than Call Of Duty

Word of warning: you probably cannot (easily) access Call of Duty Online. It's a free-to-play extension of Activision's cash cow that lays golden eggs, and it's tailor-made for Chinese markets. That said, I simply must share this trailer with you, because it's the most Call-of-Duty related Call of Duty thing I've seen in a long time. Two words: robot zombies.

Quick, Something! Modern Warfare 3 Teasers

It's been a funny week for leaks and attacks. Deus Ex Human Revolution's website getting hacked (which does seem a bit like Thief 4's website getting stolen), an MP leaking a game announcement (which is my favourite embargo break ever - presumably Creative Assembly will be punishing Vaizey by refusing to give him preview code), and then the rather astonishing complete spoil-fest of not only…

The One And Only: Singularity Out. Good?

It comes my attention via stimulation of my optic nerve by photons that Raven's Singularity is out. Which means you can buy it. We're expecting a copy shortly, so will be trying to Wot-i-think-it as soon as possible. Until then, I thought it would be well inside the friendly RPS tradition to create a post to show you a relatively recent trailer and provide a…

The Gloves Are, Er, On: Singularity Trailers

I have this glove that can manipulate objects through time. So I've been excited to follow the progress of Singularity, a game that I can identify with. However, now they've revealed that the glove in the game can also fire giant bursts of "Impulse Power", which makes mine look like last year's iPhone. It can also fire time bubbles to trap your enemies. I could…

Singularity: Actually This Year

No, the game, not the bizarre nerd rapture. And anyway, it's a manshooter news day, alright. Raven's time-bending shooter, Singularity - which I maintain should have been called TIME GLOVE! - is actually being released in 2010. In fact, we can be more precise still: it's coming out on June 29th. And there's a new trailer, which is around here somewhere... Blimey, it actually looks…

Wolfenstein: A Demo Of The 2009 Game

Alternative title: "Demo-nic Possession". Cos, you know, occult and stuff. Oh, nevermind. Wolfenstein, the recent manshoot from Raven, has a demo. I know, how about that! We certainly have had a bumper crop of game demonstrations of late. This particular demo is apparently a mere 685mb big, which seems quite economical in these engorged times. It also means that the game is no good, because…

Time’s Collapsing! Singularity Walkthrough Trailer

I'm maintaining my optimism for Singularity. I love all the time-twisty effects and ideas, and I'm intrigued by the mysterious nature of what I've seen so far. The latest walkthrough video is just the one I've wanted to see - an explanation of how the time-bending works. Including details on the "null zone", a place that exists between time, that I think looks rather spiffy.

Quickie Impressions: Wolfenstein

Just a few thoughts on a few hours of Raven's latest suckling at id's IP teat... Lest word hasn't reached you yet - perhaps unsurprisingly if so, given the dearth of pre-release reviews - BJ Blazkowicz's latest corridor-based Nazi-gibbing adventure seems disappointingly flat. Given id are now a part of the Bethesda/Zenimax machine, it's highly unlikely Raven will ever get a crack at the game…

Time Is Collapsing: Singularity Trailer

GamesCom (it's apparently spelt "gamescom" but I just refuse) reveals a new trailer for Raven's Singularity, which shows a good deal more in-game footage than we've seen so far. I know there's cynicism, but I remain very interested in this. I know there has to be a shooter that gets time manipulation correct one day, and it looks lots of explosive fun. So there. Have…

Flamethrowers And Zeppelins, Together At Last

Raven's reworking of the old lone Wolf will soon be upon us, August 18 for North American and August 21 for Europe. I've post the two most recent game-footage trailers below, in which we seen BJ using his supernatural vision and a flamethrower to clear the decks of a Zeppelin. I'm wondering whether that bit of the game ends in an explosion. It's a fair…

Fight The Signs Of Ageing, With Singularity

A glove that can de-age things. Imagine what the Loreal face-scientists could do with that. Somehow, though, this is not a piece of cosmetics technology, but an item of military hardware in the hands of the protagonist of Raven's forthcoming shooter, Singularity. In fact, de-ageing stuff is central to the hook of the game. We all thought it was about time travelling, but that's not…

Wolfenstein: Captain Generic Saves The Day

Just out is this moving-picture displaying the introductory sequence to Raven's upcoming Wolfenstein do-over. It's a curious project, for once putting the mystical overtones of the Wolfenstein series front'n'centre, as opposed to the usual late-game burst of fantasy weirdness. This cinematic, though, aptly demonstrates its two conflicting elements - Nazi-shooting and crazy gothic magic, the latter this time to be wielded by you as well…

Wolfenstein: BJ Vs The Magical Nazis Trailer

Well, that's what the trailer should have been titled. Actually it's more about the goofy occult horror angle of the reworked shooter, showing off the reality-hopping "veil" effects and the green-emitting monsters that Nazi scientists have created to destroy Freedom, jazz and apple pie. There are also impossibly large guns. That's right: it's Wolfenstein, it's coming this summer, and it's a first-person shooter videogame. We…

Best Of the Vest: X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Another superhero film, another superhero game. Wolverine will be appearing in his own third-person action adventures from May 1st. The Unreal-powered stabbing game sure does look pretty, but I sense there may be little more to this than a series of beat 'em up clearances, and some spectacular quick-time events. Yes, I'm being all sulky and sceptical and adolescent - Watchmen syndrome? - you don't…

Time Unravels: New Singularity Trailer

I've made one of my official decisions. Singularity is going to be good. If, for whatever reason it turns out to not be good, Raven forfeit the right to make games any more. Times are harsh, my wrath is mighty. So far the teaser output has been of a really entertaining standard. In rather good news, there's a new trailer out, and it shows in-game…

Wolfenstein 3D 4

Oh, I wish it really were called that. I miss the days when game names were ritually suffixed with '3D'. I might start doing it anyway. "Next week, we'll be posting about Fallout 3 3D, Spore 3D, Warhammer Online 3D and Peggle..." There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of buzz around Raven's upcoming occultist-Nazi shooter just yet, at least not compared to id's…
