Argonauts Risen, Delayed In Avalon

Like me, Achilles bows to no man. But, come to think of it, perhaps that’s just because we’re not big on bowing in middle-class Somerset, and things were probably quite different for the legendary warrior.

Anyway, you can watch Achilles not bow to anyone in this latest Rise Of The Argonauts trailer, which proffers a pixelated spread of fresh in-game visuals for you to ponder over. Initial thoughts: Pan is a bit funny looking, and Jason is wearing the armoured version of Bill’s t-shirt at the end there. And also: where’s our copy of the game, Codemasters? Oh right, it’s not out in the UK until next year! Which is a little upsetting, since this trailer has been timed to coincide with the release of the game in Europe today, and in the US next week. Brits will have wait until “early 2009” for Codemasters to fleece your gold.

Rise Of the Argonauts: New Screens, Trailers

I’ve been following all-Greek RPG Rise Of The Argonauts fairly closely, partly because I’m a hopeless optimist, and partly because I suspect that the game might actually turn out to be rather entertaining. We don’t get enough RPGs around these parts as it is, so I’m keen to see what Liquid “Battle Realms” Entertainment will come up with. This interview we did in July whetted my appetite somewhat, and we now learn that the game is out on 14th of October.

Anyway, I was going to post the ten new screenshots that Codies sent out, but then I noticed there are two new trailers too. Go take a look.

Rise of The Argonauts, vids and games

There’s a whole bunch of Rise Of The Argonauts materials arisen on the interweb that I’ve been meaning to post on here for a while, including a couple of videos detailing some of the legendary islands you’ll visit during the game. The other thing, which I know I’m painfully late with, is Codemasters’ Olympics-themed Argonauts mini games, which you can play here. They’re moderately entertaining.

Rise Of The Argonauts: Argo Trailer

The latest trailer for Codemaster’s mythical Greek action-RPG sees designer Charley Price and writer Rico Sablin talking about the role of the Argo as the hub section of the game. It’s not just a pretty cutscene, it’s also an active base of operations that you return to between adventures, as the footage in this trailer demonstrates. For some more muscular information, and our interview with Mr Price, click here. The picture used to illustrate this piece shows off Jason’s custard blast power. (Maybe.)

Rise Of The Argonauts In Motion

This first trailer has some FMV footage and commentary from lead writer on Rise Of The Argonauts, Rico Sablan, who explains their “meaningful choices” design motif. Trailer number two reveals a live demo from Comic-Con, showing combat and some rather wooden-looking characters via the gift of shakycam.

Rise of the Argonauts: “Akin To Mass Effect”

This week we were brave enough to extract a few words of Homeric wisdom from Charley Price, the lead designer on Codemasters’ new action RPG, Rise Of The Argonauts. Needless to say, the Liquid Entertainment man was keen to talk up how RotA is rather different from previous videogame interpretations of classical Greek mythology, and tell us how the game was “akin to Mass Effect”. Head clickwards for the words, and a bunch of brand new Argonauty screenshots.
