Hit It: Rocksmith 2014 Getting Big ‘Remastered’ Update

I tend not to take Rocksmith [official site] seriously because I confuse it with Songsmith, Microsoft’s software that magically created hilarious backing tracks for any vocals you fed it. No, Rocksmith isn’t the software that gave us country & western Ace of Spades or Intergalactic muzak, it’s the rhythm game from Ubisoft which – gasp! – tricks you into learning how to play an actual real guitar. Now Ubi have announced Rocksmith 2014 Edition – Remastered, updating it with a boshload of new tools and features. Fear not: all that will come in a free update for 2014 Edition too.

Rocksmith Finally Actually PC-Bound For Real In October


A good rock band always knows¬†just how long to wait before playing an encore. By that logic, Ubisoft’s Rocksmith is a band that goes backstage, gets super drunk, forgets about the show entirely, wanders around in the parking lot, falls into a nearby lake and is presumed dead, and then shows up on Steam a year later. But, if nothing else, Rocksmith comes bearing gifts. Well, conditional gifts. Pre-purchasing will get you two bonus packs and entrance into a nifty beta, but be warned: It’s BYOG (which in this case stands for guitar, and not¬†grognard, as most people would expect).

String Theory: Ubisoft Announce Rocksmith

I'd have called it ROCK ON, SMITH, but the compliment's still welcome.

So it turns out Ubisoft’s Rocksmith will be (1) coming to PC, (2) the first music game named after me personally and my remarkable reputation as a devil-may-care rock god, and (3) The first music game to work with real-life guitars. My feelings on this could be summarised succinctly, but I’ll spare you, just because I don’t think anybody wants to read the sentence “YES!” quite that many times.
