Have You Played… The Secrets Of Raetikon

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game recommendations. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time.

I bet you haven’t, you naughty scamp. And you really ought. Secrets Of Raetikon is an incredibly beautiful, peculiarly peaceful game about being a bird. And building weird statue things. And avoiding mean birds. And collecting magic glowy things. It’s the sort of game you remember absolutely adoring on your friend’s Sega Megadrive but not being able to remember what it was called.

Secrets Of Raetikon Launches From The Nest

Staring eyes

I won’t be celebrating the unholy union of the letters ‘a’ and ‘e’ in Secrets of Rætikon. Ugh. Look at it, flaunting alphabetical law. There’s a full three letters between you two in the alphabet, and you’d do well to remember your place! I’ve been reminded of this horrendous vowel mixing because Secrets of Rætikon has felt the warmth of Spring, and is emerging from its Early Access nest next week. The odd and lovely (and immoral) physics puzzler charmed the pants off that John Walker, and I enjoyed my time with it as well. It’s worth adding to your Steam Wishlist if you’re in the mood for an atmospheric Alpen avian action thing. Trailer is beneath.

Impressions: Secrets Of Raetikon

Ignore the terrible name – Secrets Of Raetikon is absolutely lovely. From And Yet It Moves developers Broken Rules, this serene action explorer gives you wings and lets you fly. The 2nd Annual Horace Awards For Forgotten IGF Entrants

The IGF finalists have been announced, and it’s a fantastic list. Very deserving games. But there are others, ones that didn’t make the grade, and I want to stand up and salute them in public. As a first round judge on the awards, I played a whole bunch of the 650 entries, and there are some real gems in there that are no longer in the running. (Obviously I didn’t play all the entries, so there will be many more great games that still go unrecognised, and that’s sad.) So, as we did last year, here are the Second Annual Horace Awards For Forgotten IGF Entrants.

Secrets of Raetikon Spread Wings, Launches Alpha Funding

Owls are the best.

Secrets of Rætikon is set in the alps and is a game about being a bird, flying, exploration, and pretty triangles. If I was to name this game, I’d have named it A Game About A Bird That Flies In The Triangular Alps. This is why I’m not an indie game designer.

The guys wot are indie game designers have launched an IndieGoGo campaign to help fund Secrets of Rætikon through to its finish line. The trailer below details the alpha you get instant access to if you choose to fund it.
