Gorgeous Walking Sim Shape Of The World Hits Kickstarter

Shape of the World [official site] is certainly the flashiest walking simulator I’ve seen. Its world appears before you as you walk, ground rising up, rocks falling down, and trees unfurling. It’s gorgeous, and doesn’t sound half-bad either. Flashiness takes time and money, though.

Developers Hollow Tree Games have launched a Kickstarter seeking $75,000 Canadian (£39k) to help finish up development. Look, look how pretty this is:

Shape Of The World Will Grow On You/Around You

I am instantly enamored with the look of Shape of the World [official site]. It’s a first person wanderer where every step creates the world around you, your ambulation prompting bushes to burst into existence, trees to unfurl long branches, and staircases to wind a path in front of you. It’s not due out til 2016, but you should watch the teaser below now.

Shape Of The World Is A Growing Exploration Game

Shape of the World is an “artistic exploration game where the world grows around you.” It’s being made by three game developers working in Vancouver: lead dev Stu Maxwell, who previously worked on Relic’s Space Marine; Athomas Goldberg doing “creatures”, who previously worked on animation systems at EA; and Brent Silk on sound and music.

And that’s pretty much all I know, except that the three GIFs below the fold – and the screenshots through on the game’s site – mean that I’m already in love with this dreamy, colourful, self-constructing world.
