Silence [official site], Daedalic’s sequel to their adventure game The Whispered World, has arrived. Gosh, what a looker! Look at ↑ that! I couldn’t tell you about its puzzling and I couldn’t tell you if it’s any good — for that you’ll likely want to play the demo yourself — but I can tell you it’s jolly pretty. Not A Peep: Silence’s Release Date Whispered

Somewhere along the way I lost track of Silence: The Whispered World 2, probably because its makers somehow decided that simply Silence [official site] would be a better name. Nnnope, that’s a name which sounds like a Slender Man fangame so it’ll barely register as I keep scrolling down my inbox. But! Silence is indeed the sequel to the adventure game our John once called “Daedalic’s best game to date”, and now it has a release date. November 15th is the big day, Daedalic announced over the weekend. Until then, cor check out the lovely painterly art style in this trailer:

Sadface: Sadwick To Return In The Whispered World 2

Remember when we told you about The Whispered World 2, and you were all like, “Yeah, it was quite good, but Sadwick was so bloody annoying.” And we were like, “No, but look! This seems to be about a brother and sister who aren’t Sadwick.” And you were like, “Well, okay, we’ll see, but that seems good news.” Well, we’ve seen. For reasons we cannot fathom, Daedalic seem to think it’s a good idea to send out press releases boasting that Sadwick will be playable in the new game.

The Silence: An Update

Hello, and welcome to an irregular update on The Silence. The technique publishers use when they want a story to go away. Rather than responding to press enquiries, they instead pretend they haven’t happened, or send prevaricating nonsense which ultimately goes nowhere. So, RPS figures, let’s not let that work. Let’s keep bringing stuff back up, reminding people about it, and letting their silence be a thorn in the publishers’ sides. Today it’s EA, Ubisoft and Deep Silver.

The Silence: Deep Silver Hiding From Torsogate

As I mentioned a few days ago, a popular technique from publishers who want bad news stories to go away is to employ silence. Just pull down the shutters, switch off the lights, and sit on the floor below the window until everybody goes away. And RPS has had enough of that nonsense, so we’re taking silence to be a response worth reporting. Such is the case for Deep Silver, who as Adam revealed the other day are still selling their dismembered, bikinied torso statuette version of Dead Island: Riptide, despite having previously apologised for even considering doing so.
