Ambition was Sniper Ghost Warrior 3’s downfall, says dev

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 [official site] did not launch in the healthiest state back in April. Despite multiple delays, it suffered from long load times and more than a few bugs. It was also missing its planned multiplayer component. In a statement made yesterday, CI Games CEO Marek Tymiñski confesses that mistakes were made and tries to offer an explanation.

Steam Charts: war dawns

Did you know: the weekly Steam charts, in which we round-up the ten games which sold best on Steam over the previous week, are broadly the most-read articles on RPS these days?

That means I can never stop. Never. Stop.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 creeps onto PC

First-person sneak-o-shooter Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 [official site] is now out, popping digital faces from afar in Georgia (not the American one). While the first two Ghostbusters were linear, 3 goes open-world like your Wildlandses and your Far Cries. Ghostbusters 3 is built for sneaking around, surveilling, and carefully picking shots, but players can also try their luck up-close and bang-y. Read the rest of this entry »

Slowly, quietly: Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 delayed again

Patience is key when sniping so if you aren’t prepared for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 [official site] to be delayed time after time then it’s probably not a game for you anyway. CI Games today announced they’re bumping the stealthy first-person shooter back from April 4th to April 25th. Why the delay? Because they want to make the game better, obvs. Following feedback from their beta test, they’ve decided three weeks of tweaking would do it good. In the meantime, hey, Sniper Elite 4 is quite fun and only came out a few weeks back. Read the rest of this entry »

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 ‘open beta’ coming February

An open beta test of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 [official site] will launch next month, ahead of the first-person face-shooter’s launch in April. “An off-brand Far Cry with a dash of Battlefield” is what RPS spotter Edwin Evans-Thirlwell called GW3 after playing a preview version last year, which sounds like it might be a lark. If you’re interested, you can sign up for the beta over here and yes, asking people to register in advance “to be given a chance to” play is a funny way to run an open beta’. Pip suggests an “Ajar Beta”, perhaps an “On The Latch Beta”, or a “The Key Is Under The Plant Pot Beta”. Read the rest of this entry »

The PC games of 2017 mega-preview

As Old Father Time grabs his sickle and prepares to take ailing 2016 around the back of the barn for a big sleep, we’re looking to the future. The mewling pup that goes by the name 2017 will come into the world soon and we must prepare ourselves for its arrival. Here at RPS, our preparations come in the form of this enormous preview feature, which contains details on more than a hundred of the exciting games that are coming our way over the next twelve months. 2016 was a good one – in the world of games at least – but, ever the optimists, we’re hoping next year will be even better.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is an off-brand Far Cry game

Guards come in all shapes and sizes, but their behaviours are quite robotic

We sent Edwin Evans-Thirwell into the field to see Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 [official site] and he came back to us with a report about the good, the bad and the ugly of the game, and thoughts on the loneliness of the long distance killer.

Sniper rifles are ubiquitous in video games, but I’m not sure a game has ever captured what it means to be a sniper – or to face one. These guns are characterised as delicate tools, the preserve of a methodical elite, but while sniping may require subtlety, a sniper rifle is essentially an instrument of terror.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 Release is Pushed Back Again

Developer CI Games has delayed Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 [official site] yet again. The game was originally slated for release this year, but in June we heard that it wouldn’t hit shelves until January 2017. Today CI Games stated that they wouldn’t be hitting that release window either.

Duelling Snipers: Ghost Warrior 3 & Sniper Elite 4 Dates

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 [official site] and Sniper Elite 4 [official site] are giving each other the eye from either side of the no man’s land between January and February. Open-world snipe ’em up Ghost Warrior 3 will launch on January 27th, 2017, CI Games announced this week during E3. The very same day, Rebellion announced that they’ll launch Sniper Elite 4 on February 14th, 2017.

Sneak-O-Bangs! Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 Gameplay Vid

Bored snipers often scout around spying on boys. The most highly-skilled snipers can throw their voices to the others, and hold a conversation by reading lips through their scope.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 [official site] is the third in the FPS series, but the first that developers CI Games are making as a “full-fledged triple-A title”. The first two face-shooters were a bit cheap and cheerful, see. So what’s so different about 3? You can have a peek for yourself, as a new 24-minute narrated gameplay trailer the devs playing through the demo they took to E3.

In short, it’s now a big open-world affair with side-quests (or ‘war crimes’ as CI have decided is a cute name for them) and crafting and everything, and looks a lot less janky.

Bang Thhhwpp Splat – Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 Announced

Hey robobuddy!

Given the option in an FPS, assuming I’m too far for a shotgun and the game’s stingy with revolver ammo, I’m awfully happy with a sniper rifle in my virtual hands. Great noises, sniper rifles. Popping heads with a bolt-action rifle, nervous that their pals are getting closer and closer, is up there with slide-kick-shotgunning and dual-pistol-side-diving on the list of Cool Ways To Kill Virtual Men. So here, CI Games have announced Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, and they want this one to be a little less cheap and cheerful.
